"The idea is simple: Instead of growing a chicken embryo into a bird and cutting meat from it, you skip the bird part and grow the meat directly from the embryo."

A bit creepy...it might work for vegetables...but the exercise required for development of lean meats doesn't sound feasible, UNLESS they have little treadmills for the frankenfowl...

That really was where I first read of such many years ago—when reading an abductee’s narrative.

I’ve been trying to grow a Corvette in the back yard. So far all I have is a tire.

Have I got a SciFi story for you!
A Green Thumb

That is the plot exactly!
Worth a listen!

I can think of two ways to do it.

“Free range chicken $2.50 lb

chicken farm chicken $1.25 lb

lab chicken 75 cents lb

Who wouldn’t go for the cheap stuff!”

Tyson Farms.

We had a KFC bucket in the house last week, and it said "Kentucky Fried Chicken" on the side, not just KFC. You can see one on this page.

I do recall reading a science fiction story that included this very topic, but couldn't recall where. This page has some information about some related scifi stories. But this page describes the story I read - I have the book on my bookshelf.

"As a literary genre, science fiction often attempts to envision realities before (or as) they come into being. While most of these futuristic visions remain in the realm of pure fantasy, some prove eerily prescient. The protagonist of Frederick Pohl and C.M. Kornbluth's 1952 sci-fi novel The Space Merchants works in a factory that manufactures Chicken Little – a meat cell culture that feeds the world."

[animal stem cells that would be placed in a medium to grow and reproduce.]

I went to the article but not all the links there. What would be the ingredients of the ‘medium’ that grows this food?

We know what animals eat and pretty much what we are ingesting but wonder just WHAT we would end up eating from these clones.

Perhaps, someone would find a reason to beef about it. Others might be too chicken-hearted to try it. Maybe someone will find a way to use it for a new desert: an I scream clone.
