This morning the North Carolina Republican Party introduced a TV ad against Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., using images and sound from his controversial former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
(Okay, technically the ad is against Democratic gubernatorial candidates, but only nominally. It's clear purpose it to tag Obama as "extreme.")
"For 20 years, Barack Obama sat in his pew listening to his pastor," the narrator says. Cue Rev. Wright and his "God d--- America" sermon.
The ad then mentions Democratic candidates Bev Perdue and Richard Moore, who have endorsed Obama.
"They should know better," the narrator says. "He's just too extreme for North Carolina."

IMHO, it's just beating a dead horse, might trigger the sympathy vote.

In fact, pointing out where the mud is should be considered a community service!!!
I thought it was a great ad! Too bad McCain and the spineless RNC are afraid to hurt Obama’s feelings. The ad should be saved for the general election though. Running it right now in NC could help Hillary.
Thanks for nothing, Rush.
This is why we need Hildabeast in there to the bitter end. McCain wont fight Osama Obama but she will!
Maybe it’s an attempt to keep “race” out of the Presidential “race?”
“RNC and John McCain Condemn Anti-Obama TV Ad”
Pu$$ies.
“Thanks for nothing, Rush.”
Rush?? Rush did not nominate Dole part Deux.
The only thing I can’t figure out is how McCain can stand up without a backbone, and how did he ever have have kids lacking certain key pieces of equipment.
He wants to run his campaign on issues and taking the high road instead of slime bag politics.
I say good for him....
That’s what 527s are for and he can reap what he helped create.
ANN COULTER: YOU DON'T NEED A WEATHERMAN TO KNOW WHICH CANDIDATE BLOWS (Hilliary/Obama Ties)

My opinion,,,is that Rush's Chaos plan is to FORCE the MEDIA to publish all the DIRT that comes with BOTH of these candidates....
“The only thing I cant figure out is how McCain can stand up without a backbone, and how did he ever have have kids lacking certain key pieces of equipment.”
I can’t figure this one out. I just heard that McCain didn’t even bother to put himself on the ballot in Oregon. He’s not even in the voter’s pamphlet. Why not? Sometimes I think he’s trying to lose.
.
If that happens, it will be McCain’s fault.
You've got it all wrong. McCain is doing exactly the right thing. While this ad will likely turn some moderates and independents away from Obama who might otherwise vote for him, it will also be (unjustly) perceived by many as a dirty tactic. Hence it's best for McCain to let other people do the dirty work of airing ads like this and then distance himself from them, just as he is doing. That way he gets the best of both worlds: the ad runs and turns some people away from Obama, while at the same time he's not damaged by the perceived nastiness of it.
Totally agree. McCain stays out of the fight...the ad runs anyway, a win/win for all concerned.
In this case it's working to his advantage. Negative ads about your opponent are always helpful, but they are even more helpful if you can plausibly deny any connection to them. That way you get the best of both worlds: your opponent gets trashed, while at the same time you don't get labeled as being "negative." What more could you want?
