I am a vegetarian. The killing of sentient, biologically autonomous birds or mammals who have done nothing to me, solely to satisfy a completely unnecessary (and unhealthy) lust for artery-clogging animal fat, is something that I personally consider to be immoral and unethical. However, I do not equate the value of animals to that of sentient, autonomous humans, so I do not favor imposing my beliefs on others by force of law. I am "pro-choice" on the subject of eating meat.
And from further down...
The more extreme elements of the pro-life movement don't care about women who are human persons, they only care about fetal tissue. Should I, as a vegetarian, parade in front of YOUR favorite restaurant where YOU are eating MEAT, with pictures of what goes on in the slaughterhouse where your meal came from? If you find such a thought revolting, is it because you know in your heart the vileness of your wanton, unnecessary killing of animals just to feed your lustful addiction to fat? Would there be a difference? [For the record, as I have stated many times, I do not equate animals with persons and am respectfully pro-CHOICE on the subject of vegetarianism - I do not go around carrying signs or yelling "Meat is Murder," but I could make a lot stronger case for their position than the pro-life one, since birds and mammals clearly ARE sentient, conscious and autonomous - not requiring that you use your body to keep them alive.]
Don't you love how she contradicts herself on the whole 'human > animal' point with regards to the unborn? Oh, and as for our 'unnecessary lust for artery-clogging animal fat'...I was unaware that humans were herbivores. I thought we were omnivores. Which means we for delicious meat for the PROTEIN! Besides, I'll take sirloin over tofu any day.
Big giant mega-ping to all interested parties!
Should any of the following be considered "human":
1) Democrats
2) Liberals
3) Celebrities
4) Washed-up has-been singers
5) Muslims
I was lost after the first sentence.
Nah consider them tomatoes, it is much easier to slice and dice with a clear conscience.
Pinging everyone who read my previous articles on abortion.
From my experience, every vegan I met didn’t eat right and lacked lots of nutrients. They always looked sick, pale and not alright ‘upstairs’.
It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to compensate for eating no animal products.
As a result of their improper diet, most of them are somewhat crazy and should be ignored.
I’ll go to bat for this young woman, with my emphasis on the word “young.’ She is filled with vigor and passion, and she’s just starting to try and make moral and ethical sense of the world’s complexity. She’s going to face the problems that all of us face during our transition from youth to middle age, and hopefully she won’t become rigid or bitter, but she’ll choose to experience life with joy and hopefulness. What she is missing is wisdom, which comes from experience and introspection, but let’s give her another 30 years.
Hey, take a look at some of things I wrote in 1975 as a student. Fortunately it was an experience shared only by myself, the girlfriend du jour, my professor, and an electric typewriter. For this young woman’s generation, I suspect that it will be profoundly humbling to be able to trace point by point your intellectual and spiritual growth throughout your life as it is preserved on the Internet and on someone’s hard drive - let alone hearing feedback from around the world as that growth progresses.
I’m cutting her slack. I’m sure I’d have a blast talking with her over Thanksgiving dinner. LOL
College student flunks: “Human” is an adjective.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR VEGAN DRIVEL, OUT OF A REAL DISCUSSION
You should consider abortion from an economic axis of argument sometime. Start from looking at the lost economic opportunity, etc.
It’s having a pretty big impact in the black community, and ironically enough, among liberals. Demographics are destiny, if liberals assassinate enough of their own offspring, while conservatives keep having babies who grow up in political conservative contexts, then before long you start to feel the economic aspects.
If say one in one million may be ‘extraordinary’ and hold the innate ability to cut through scientifc, engineering, or medical mysteries, what does that cost society?
“”Should the Unborn be Considered Human?” A College Student’s Final Project”
For a practicing Christian there is only one example needed to prove the humanity of a fetus: Lk 1:42-44
As an added bonus it is also proof that Mary is the Mother of God. Why else should Elizabeth refer to Mary as “the mother of my Lord”?
Somewhere out there is a Grizzly bear who is missing a very good meal if this Vegan does not show up soon.
Your website looks great! I read from the start into the first biological argument page and it is very good. I will have to come back to it when I’m not as tired but it is bookmarked in my ‘Abortion’ folder where I keep pro-life/abortion articles. Good for you for doing this.
“Should the Unborn be Considered Human?”
Easy: does the unborn baby have human DNA? This it is, indeed, human. End of story.
Thanks!
Pardon me, but this pushes my hot button.
Good Lord, what has happened to the human mind that such a question would ever be thought of??
What else can an unborn human be BUT human?
Has there EVER been a case in recorded history of a human having any other species? Cows, monkeys, birds, hamsters?
Humans create humans. Period.
To even ask such a question is asinine bordering on mentally retarded.
