During the Civil War, the South offered the Saints statehood if they would send troops fight with the South.

The Latter-Day Saints (LDS) stayed true to the United States, even though the government did not help address the wrongs done to the Saints, before being forced out of what was the United States at that time.

SOMEbody did a mighty poor job of FORCING anyone; since a big bunch of LDS folks decided to stay behind and thrive.

(Don't you wish YOUR group had title to the properties that the old RLDS has? ;^)
