Clinton on Iran Attack: 'Obliterate Them'
Hillary: If Iran Attacked Israel With Nukes 'We Would Be Able to Totally Obliterate Them'
By JAKE TAPPER
April 21, 2008

One day before Pennsylvania primary voters go to the polls, Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., spent the day trying to reach undecided voters, and rally their supporters to the polls.

For the last six weeks they have battled and bickered and both have unleashed a barrage of negativity in television ads that have aired thousands of times in the state.

Clinton Ad Features Osama bin Laden

In an ad that began airing in Pennsylvania Monday morning, Clinton implies she is tougher than Obama.

"Who do you think has what it takes?" the narrator asks in an ad depicting historical images of crises that presidents have had to deal with: Osama bin Laden, headlines about the stock market crash of 1929, long gas lines from the 1970s oil-shocks, images of the Cold War, Hurricane Katrina and soldiers. It features the first image of Osama bin Laden to be used in a TV ad this political season.

"It's the toughest job in the world," says the ad's narrator. "You need to be ready for anything — especially now, with two wars, oil prices skyrocketing and an economy in crisis."

The ad quotes President Harry Truman's famous line: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen," — to cast Obama as complaining about last week's ABC News presidential debate.

Responding to the ad, Obama spokesman Bill Burton accused the New York senator of engaging in scare tactics.

Some folks don’t like the term “ Preemptive War “ so I have a better way of saying it, I call it a “ Strategic War of Importance and Survival “ ..... I have no problems of the USA having to deal with other countries in a preemptive war because sometimes it is necessary.

The Clinton Machine smells blood in the water. They are going after the blue dogs in PA and after she wins PA will start to move to the right for the general.

More from the story...
Senator Clinton further distinguished herself from past administration policies. "When I take action, I’m not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It’s going to be decisive" Clinton told reporters.

Being “able” to obliterate them is one thing... Actually doing it is of course a whole ‘nother thang.

I don’t think Israel will let them get that close. We merely need to stand behind Israel when they do what they must.

But that business of re-carving up the lines wouldn’t make any difference. Then it would just be newly-labeled countries kicking each other around just the same.

Please, don't be so easiy fooled.

If she speaks you don't know whether she's lying, or lying about a lie.

Obliterate them with cash handouts to ‘play nice’ is more her style.

I think Hillary has always had a pair. And frankly, I’d be much more comfortable with her in the Oval Office than Obama. I think that anyone who would dare challenge her authority would be made to pay the consequences. In the arena of national defense, I actually halfway trust her. She’s always come across to me as someone you don’t mess with.

Obama, on the other hand, would go the way of Hillary’s husband with the military. There would be massive cuts, or at least very little effort made to stay abreast. Of that I have little doubt.

I hope she continues to win. Not just for chaos and not just for an opponent for McCain, but also as someone who I’d prefer or Obama in a worst case scenario.

Obama should tell stories about dodging bullets in Chicago during his activist days. Even if they are lies people would believe him, it sounds so plausible.

I'd say you sized it up well. Calculating just like they are famous for. God, I hate her so near the possibility of a presidency, and Obama just as much. Scares the hell out of me.

I believe her. If it meant her approval rating would go up...bye-bye Iran.

In the wake of 9-11 a number of Clintonistas publically (if anonymously) lamented how the attacks had occured under Bush instead of a year or two earlier ... when the US response would have been credited to Clinton's "legacy"

I think if the Clintons have learned one single thing from the last 20 years or so (Bush-Clinton-Bush ... although theoretically going back over 25 years to Maggie Thatcher and the Falklands) is that if a President wants to guarantee a "legacy", they need to go fight a war.

I have no doubt at all that Hillary! would take the US to war against someone, regardless of whether it was in the US national interest or not, just to ensure that she had a favorable place in the history books.

Always said she would choose Wesley for her VP. Neither Obama or Hillary are good presidential picks. Might as well throw in an idiot general, too.

Iraq signed a conditional treaty which they did not fulfill. It was not a pre-emptive attack.

What was that general’s name in Strangelove? The one who wouldn’t have sex because it would sap his, well you know.

Don’t you love it when liberals talk tough? It’s like watching a pitty-pat fight between two girly-men hairdressers over which shade of fuchsia looks better with the drapes. Meanwhile, conservatives are out killing the enemy and blowing up their stuff.

I agree completely. She is different than Bill. She is the viscous part of the diabolical duo. She wouldn't hesitate to obliterate Iran for personal gain, or if they stood in the way of some other grand goal. Truly scary mentality.

All the more reason to be terrified of a Hillary presidency at war.
