News Release

For Release: April 21, 2008

Tony Snow Joins CNN as Political Contributor

Former White House press secretary Tony Snow will join CNN as a conservative commentator beginning today, it was announced by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S.

A well-known and respected observer of politics with a longstanding news background, Snow will contribute to CNN as the network continues to broadcast winning political coverage.

Snow most recently served as press secretary to President George W. Bush from April 2006 to September 2007. For 10 years beginning in 1996, he appeared on Fox News Channel, hosting Fox News Sunday, Weekend Live with Tony Snow and other programs. From 2003 to 2006, The Tony Snow Show aired on Fox News Radio. Before joining Fox, Snow served as a substitute "From the Right" co-host for CNN's Crossfire.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," Klein said. "He will contribute a unique breadth of political and journalistic expertise to what is already the most provocative and wide-ranging political analysis on the air."

"I'm delighted to be able to join CNN during the most exciting and unpredictable political year in memory,” Snow said. “The big challenge in 2008 is to develop deep, creative and aggressive analysis of both political parties, their candidates and campaigns. I’m eager to get started, since this race is sure to shape American politics for years to come."

During the 1990s, Snow was a regular guest host for Rush Limbaugh’s radio program. He was the writer, correspondent and host of a PBS news special, The New Militant Center, a regular commentator for National Public Radio and a frequent guest on numerous televised news programs. Snow joined the administration of President George H. W. Bush in 1991 and served first as chief speechwriter and then as media affairs adviser.

In addition to his experience in government, television and radio, Snow spent more than two decades as an award-winning newspaper writer beginning with the Greensboro Record in 1979. He went on to be a columnist for USA Today and Creators Syndicate and an editorial page editor for The Washington Times.

CNN Worldwide, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner Company, is the most trusted source for news and information. Its reach extends to nine cable and satellite television networks; one private place-based network; two radio networks; wireless devices around the world; CNN Digital Network, the No. 1 network of news Web sites in the United States; CNN Newsource, the world’s most extensively syndicated news service; and strategic international partnerships within both television and the digital media.

Heck, almost anyplace is better than Foxnews these days. On MSNBC in the morning, they talk about some issues, they might have it wrong, but at least they pay attention to it.

On Fox, you get the polygamy junk, and the latest car chase or missing white woman.

I can’t watch Fox anymore.

Yeah.

My head nearly exploded during the 2004 faceoff between President Bush and Senator Kerry. What particularly bothered me was when I witnessed famed CNN reporter Colleen McEdwards say, "And now to the man we would like to see elected President, Senator John Kerry."

She was sitting in as an "news anchor" with Jim Clancy on "Your World Today," and I was dumbfounded at CNN's clear and present SLANT against President Bush in their election coverage.

How can a "news" organization expect public respect with such ridiculous bias?

CNN is pure garbage, so good luck to Mr. Snow.

Slowly and painfully CNN sees where the money is.

Tony jumped the shark when he said that being an illegal alien was like being a speeder.

The guy has a right to make a living and if he can stand as a voice among several liberals/leftists, then great.

Do you think CNN would ever have done this if there had been no Fox news?
Look how long it’s taken them to get a different voice/viewpoint on.

Hang in there.

Dr. Charles Krauthammer and Mr. Brit Hume are still my favorites.

Wow. This is good news. A voice of reason will be heard from CNN. I hope their devoted audience doesn’t jump ship ;-)

I don’t get your attitude?? You should be happy that a good guy Conservative is going to be on that left wing network. Like Glenn Beck is doing.

Now you are just one more presstitute working for the Demoncraps media organ. Shame on you!

I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment.

Tony's going into the Lions' Den....and America will be better for it!

Tony was wrong on the illegal immigrant/speeder analogy. The speeder remains a speeder as long as he is speeding. The illegal immigrant remains illegal until he returns to where he legally may live.

That said, Tony is good people, and I agree with the vast majority of his positions.

Tony Snow will bring ratings (i.e. $$$$) to CNN, whose leftist bias is crystal clear. He will be the lone conservative on a panel of 2-4 rabid leftists, none of whom will let him get a word in edgewise.

I’m sure that they offered him moogabucks - great for him! However, in his chase for $$$ I’m sure he has realized he’ll be a “token”, and his value to the conservative cause will be nearly nil.

How long will it be before he moderates his conservatism in order to keep those $$$$ ? I’ll say it again: presstitute.

You got that right!

Next thing we know, the NYT will give Ann Coulter a column!
