Analysis: As Dems stumble toward summer, GOP cries for more

If the long-running Democratic presidential race were a play, Republicans would be clamoring for even more after the six-week intermission now giving way to the Pennsylvania primary.

Little more than a month ago, few voters knew of Barack Obama's controversial pastor or Hillary Rodham Clinton's make-believe story about sniper fire in Bosnia.

Obama hadn't ruminated to his own detriment about bitterness in small-town America. And Clinton hadn't felt it necessary to rearrange her staff after her top strategist supported a Colombian free trade pact she opposes.

Obama hadn't bowled. Nor the former first lady gamely knocked back a shot of Crown Royal, then picked up a beer mug.

All this — and more — has occurred since the most recent Democratic primaries, Clinton's late-winter wins in Texas and Ohio on March 5 and Obama's victory in Mississippi a week later.

"We're going on, we're going strong and we're going all the way," Clinton had said as she breathed new energy into her candidacy.

The six-week break gave Obama time to go to the beach with his family and Clinton the opportunity to regroup after breaking an 11-state losing streak.

And it presented Republican John McCain with a chance to improve his standing in general election polls.

Obama led McCain 52-40 in a hypothetical matchup in March, but his edge had dropped to 49-44 by last week, according to an ABC News-Washington Post poll. What had been a 50-44 lead for Clinton became a 48-45 race, advantage McCain.

"Obviously, the fact that our contest is still going on means that John McCain comes in here and he's feeling pretty good," Obama told newspaper publishers recently, a few hours after the Republican candidate had appeared before the same group.

"I suspect he's getting more sleep than either Sen. Clinton or myself."

I still want:

1) Credentials Fight over Michigan & Florida
2) A dead-locked convention
3) Clinton chosen over Obama

Agreed except for no. 3. I want to see her going mental when her FBI files and husband’s cajoling and arm twisting comes up short in Denver.

And then I want to hear the bitterness echo through America.
The entitlement/coronation going down in flames echoed throughout the land.

GOP cries for more

Where did they get the idea that any Republican is begging for the 'Rats to beat each other up in some type of Wagnerian frenzy leaving nothing but a flaming wreck of a party?

I am a crappy bowler since I don’t do it often, but I can pull a 70 or so and sometimes 110 if I am lucky.....37? That is hilarious.

Okay..I will.

Hillary's staying in this until the bitter end. It's a given, like the sun rising in the East. Not Rush Limbaugh nor the whole of the Democrat elites will change this.

WE DO NOT NEED TO INCREASE HER VOTE TOTAL AND VICTORY MARGIN. (Unless, of course, we want a Clinton II presidency. Because if we help her get the nomination...she WILL get the White House.)

I would've been a royal pain out there. I wouldn't step on those lanes for a photo shoot until I had a ball drilled, and purchased other equipment.

Typically elitist Obama, not knowing some skill goes into bowling. I worked my tail off as a younger man to develop my skills.

I know I wouldn't have approached my average from my last year of competitive bowling (10+ years ago, 200+ average), but I wouldn't have embarrassed myself like Obama did.

The lesson for me was another look into his soul. he obviously thought if "typical small town American can do this, I'll do it better".

When are these Beltway insiders ever going to learn to respect the average citizen?

I for one think it’s hilarious and I am enjoying watching the demonrats self destruct over it. It’s like watching two starving dingos fighting over the last sliver of meat on a carcass.

She’s said she’s going all the way to the convention, and I see no reason to doubt her.

However...... she ducked out today of the 4/27 debate in NC.

I agree, I’d much rather go up against the Daley machine than the world-wide Clinton machine this November. Vote Obama, PA!

I for one would think he would be a natural. Throwing a black ball at a bunch of white pins, in order to knock them all down. Right up his, ahem, alley.

Those two are taking the slow death way out of the campaign. McCain isn't any better. But Nobama and Shill are each building a gun with a U shaped barrel. They are so busy building piles of bullets that will navigate the barrels that they don't get what is going on just like they don't get what they are doing to their party. How's that for Commander in Chief material? May it never be.

37 is the score you get when you take your Brownie troop to the bowling alley. Beyond pathetic.

She didn't actually knock back that shot. She sipped a bit of it. You can tell from the video that she doesn't understand how to do a shot. I would also point out that most people don't shoot Crown Royal. That's a decent, but ordinary, scotch that you SIP, not do as a shot. Hillary's a typical non-drinker wannabe.

Sorry, Crown Royal is a Canadian whiskey. No wonder I don’t drink it. :-)
