How the world was misled about global warming and now climate change
Canada Free Press ^ | 4/21/08 | Tim Ball

Once you realize humans are not causing global warming and/or climate change, then you need an explanation for how and why so many people appear to think they are. In two previous articles (Environmental Extremism and Historical and philosophical context of the climate change debate.) we examined the philosophical and historical context of climate change and specifically the focus on humans as the cause.

We explained the philosophical concept of uniformitarianism that dominates western science; the incorrect idea that change is gradual over long periods of time. We looked at how the scientific method of testing the theory that human CO2 was causing warming/climate change was effectively bypassed. Now we need to examine how politics took over climate science through exploitation of public fear and lack of knowledge.

you are confusing global warming/climate change with mere polution.

Many cities have addressed the simple issue of polution without going into the nonsense of eco-wackoism.

BTW the acid rain was supposed to make the earth unlivable in 2000. We seemed to have survived that too.

Polution is polution. Pull out the crying indian commercial, clean up our own space and move on.

Not if he doesn’t know anything about the subject, which he doesn’t. The crow the GW alarmist have had to eat this year is amazing. Planet temperature has actually decreased the last 10 years, not risen. Hence the new name: ‘Climate Change’.

I agree about nuke energy....but, I do NOT agree about CO2 being the problem......it's the SUN.....and I sure would like some GLOBAL WARMING where I live SOON!!!!!

Improper amount of CO2, can trap too much heat and cause melting of large ice-masses. Rise in sea-levels would lead all kind of problems. So in some ways those two problems are not completely independent.

Edgar Cayce was a con man in the same mold as the global warming alarmists.
It is quite fitting to connect him with today’s hoax.

There are floods every year. So maybe you mean one giant Global flood? Like I said, the whole world is not going down, but most coastal areas would - if Sea Level rises based on polar cap melting. So may be its not a technical violation of what you are referring.

Con man that you know nothing about.

What a GREAT CON! Talk about land masses going under water! What a great way to make NO MONEY and die practically broke. Whatever money you do make, spend it on the HOSPITAL you built to help people. Suggest remedies like drilling a nail in someones’ knee to help them walk again, and then NYT picks up on that story and covers it in detail AT THE TIME and recognizes that a man with NO MEDICAL TRAINING suggested a surgery that works.

Back then there was NO phenomenon known as Global Warming. For someone to foresee exact same events that TODAY scientists are just coming to grips with is nothing short of brilliant.

What money did he make from coming up with these fake Global Warming crisis?

Also, he was one of the MOST devout Christians that I have ever read about. Always talked about Prince of Peace! Talked about RUSSIA and yes CHINA becoming future cradles of Christianity (long before Iron Curtain went down).

Read about him first. Tell me what did he con you with?

No, just listing another area of expertise assigned to him that he does not have. Just like global warming. He’s a leftist, and as such, he will support leftist agenda. And he does.

Once the bulwark has been dismantled from the ramparts to the foundation, it is very hard to figure out what’s left to conserve.

"Once you realize humans are not causing global warming and/or climate change, then you need an explanation for how and why so many people appear to think they are."

What people need is a 7th grade course in general science like what was once taught in public schools until 40 (?) yrs. ago. After that, an explanation of the who and why is unnecessary because anyone trying to convince people that they can do something about climate change will simply be laughed at. Ignorance and socialism are our enemies and we permit our children to be TAUGHT both.

I don't for one minute believe "the supposedly conservative party...has bought this bullshit hook, line and sinker." They have glommed on for the lucrative ride with the exception of a few honest, thinking, elected conservatives who are not in the business of lining their pockets at the expense of the taxpayers or the destruction of the economy.

This planet has endured times of Global Warming and Cooling in cycles for millions of years. There were times when it was hotter than it has been in this last warm period, and there were NO humans on the planet at that time, so what caused the warming then? It has also been shown that the CO2 levels rise as a RESULT of the warming; it doesn't CAUSE it.

The CO2 you mention rising has continued to do so, even over the last 10 years, when the earth has actually been COOLING, instead of warming. According to the the Anthropogenic Global Warming crowd, it should have continued to get hotter. Human activity has had SOME affect on the planet being warmer, but according to the SCIENCE, the overall temperature had increased by 1/4th of 1 degree over the last 150 years or so, since the start of the Industrial Revolution. Hardly enough to melt polar ice caps and cause a 40' rise in the seas.

The earth has actually experienced a cooling period over the last 10 years that wiped out that warming trend. That cooling was brought on by REDUCED sunspot activity. In fact, the 'accepted' science in the 70's was, in fact, that the sun is the reason the earth warms and cools in cycles. The reason for the severe cooling in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, was the corresponding Maunder Sunspot Minimum, and the cooling in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, was because of the Dalton Minimum. Some of this new crop of scientists don't seem to want to acknowledge that.

Historically, 70% or more of earth’s surface has been ocean; NAPAP spent $500 million to conclude that acid rain itself was not a problem but shelved the study and nearly embargoed it.

It’s not like a sudden rise of the seas will take place in a short period of time so people will just move to higher ground until it advances no more.

Theorists treat decadal events as though they are as dire and imminent as daily weather forecasts or hourly tornado tracking.

Caution has been thrown to the winds of passion.

I remember reading 3 of his books when I was a young teenager. Pretty entertaining stuff (if you place them in the fiction category.) My favorite was his claim that he could put books under his pillow and then recite them, page by page. I tried it a couple of times, hoping it would help me on my history lessons. ;-)

There seem to be a lot of new global warming alarmists joining FR recently. Citing the con-man Edgar Cayce or the red-diaper-baby Stephen Hawking is somewhat entertaining. but it will be nice when election season is over and we can get back to conservatism.

"Edgar Cayce, the American Prophet, saw that phenomenon in his dreams hundred years ago."

I used to hang out summers in Va. Beach at the Cayce Foundation when I was in college. Do you have ANY idea how many things that Cayce was WRONG about 40 yrs. ago? I don't doubt for a minute the sleeping prophet is WRONG about a lot more since then.

This certainly tells me a lot more about where you're coming from. "BRILLIANT" minds like Newt are in it for the $, the same as the socialists are. If you can't recognize that, you're a bigger fraud than he is or dumber than a rock.

Con man that you know nothing about.

See my post above. I have read several of his books and know plenty about him. The man was a con, making his living just like snake-oil salesman.

I suppose you think L. Ron Hubbard was a great religious leader, too?

Also, he was one of the MOST devout Christians that I have ever read about.

Really? Reincarnation is the doctrine embraced by devout Christians? Perhaps you need to read about more Christians. I'm sure there are at least a couple that would qualify as more devout. ;-)
