Hillary in Bitterland
NRO ^ | Byron York

This is Clinton country. A new poll from Suffolk University, out today, shows Clinton leading Barack Obama statewide, 52 percent to 42 percent. But in the southwestern part of the state, here in the Mon Valley, Clinton has a huge lead, 74 percent to 17 percent.

And people here aren’t just for Clinton. They’re against Obama. At this Hillary rally, no one expresses any outright hostility to Obama, but they tell me over and over again that they just don’t like him, that they don’t care for him, that they don’t trust him. They view him as inexperienced and not ready to be president, and they think he’s selling them a bill of goods.

“I could tell you I’m going build you a house, and I’m going to do everything you want,” a man named Bernie tells me. “I'm going to put everything in it just the way you want it. And then you give me your money, and you find out I'm not a carpenter.”

The new Suffolk poll found that found that 46 percent of Democrats surveyed in southwest Pennsylvania would either vote for John McCain or would be undecided if their candidate doesn’t win. They’re the people here tonight. When I ask whether they will vote for Obama if he wins the Democratic nomination, the answers are quick:

“If Hillary doesn’t win, I’m not voting.”

“No.”

“I will not.”

“I’d have to debate myself on that one.”

Others said they would reluctantly cast votes for Obama. But at least half of the people to whom I speak say they simply would not vote for him in the general election.

That's good news. Pennsylvania has gone Dem in the past two presidential elections so if blue collar Democrats are ticked off by Obama, the Democrats may blow what should be a year when they ought to reclaim the White House. Stay tuned.

To re-iterate from other threads. We need to vote obama in tomorrow’s primary. She should not take it by such a big margin.

Yeah, that makes sense because hillary is so likable and trustworthy..

The people in the Mon valley, like the people in the Mahoning valley in Ohio, will not vote for a black man for President. The dirty little secret of the blue collar Democrats. The MSM won't discuss this directly and the Clinton people get slammed for alluding to it.
Vote Obama!

MI and PA are in play BIG TIME if Hussein is the nominee. And OH will be off the table as well.

Buraq will be fighting to hold onto blue states.

You can take this news as either good or bad. The good part is that they say they don’t like or trust Obama. “They view him as inexperienced and not ready to be president, and they think he’s selling them a bill of goods.”

The bad news is that people still don’t see how dangerous he is, or at least they don’t talk about it. He’s not just an inexperienced empty suit, he’s a well-trained Communist/racist/Islamist hater of white America. His biggest pretence is that he is here to reconcile people.

I’ve been saying that for a long time...If Obama gets the nomination (and I hope he does), there is no way he’ll get blue collar democrats to vote for him, especially in places like PA and OH.

“Their bitterness is the fact that they’re just tired of losing their jobs, losing opportunities, losing their young people, just because we haven’t had that federal help, that little push to keep those steel mills here, keep those coal mines here, and create manufacturing opportunities.”

Well aren't the Rat unions as much to blame for the disappearing jobs as the federal trade policies of both parties? The government didn't put those jobs there in the first place, how are they supposed to be recreated by the government? Does this mean my money gets sent to them for some program that probably won't work?

I agree. But the good news is that conservatives and mainstream Republicans are starting to realize the dangerous nature of Obama’s candidacy. He is a typical stealth candidate. It’s simply scary. Inch by inch, all the OBAMA Republican supporters are abandoing him in droves.

It will take some time to pull down his facade entirely to the independents.

Obamadama doesnt like Hillbilly White folk who "cling" to guns and God. He wonders why they are so stupid and so bigotted. Why dont they vote their pocket book, instead? He represents the Party of handouts, after all.

In particular, however, he really could give a s#it about them, but he doesent want the Beest to beat him by more than 10 points. Thats what he cares about the most.

I’m not sure about MI. MI has lots of African Americans, and Obama can turn them out in big numbers. The chance for McCain for these four big swing states can be ordered as follows IMHO:

FL>PA>OH>MI

If Obama is the nominee, FL is surely going for McCain. The battleground is PA&OH, MI is probably going for Obama.

I’d hate to think if someone like Michael Steele, Dr Rice, JC Watts or other good Republicans who happened to be black ran for president that they would lose just because of their race. How sad would that be.

I am another unenthusiastic Republican who will probably vote for McCain just because the alternatives scare me. Looks like McCain would have a better shot against Obama. Too bad though it is going to be an ugly and divisive campaign. The Dems will be responsible for that though I suspect we are the ones who will get the blame.

“She should not take it by such a big margin.”

I’ve seen several polls where she is only ahead by small percentages. I hate polls. You never know which one to trust.

How to you know that? (not a challenge, just a question)

We already are getting the blame. Both dems are blaming the other’s behavior on Republicans. Go figure.

Seeing the changing attitude towards Obama on freerepublic is a good indicator. Some freepers warmed up to him during the GOP primary fight, at least they thought he’s just a lightweight who would do no harm as a president.

Now, with all the stuff coming out, Obama is simply a nighmarish horror for many freepers. Many freepers are now believing He is more dangerous than Hillbeast.
