Searching for "Sarah"
The American Spectator ^ | April 21, 2008 | Robert Stacy McCain

*SNIP*

OFFICIALS SAY Rozita E. Swinton is a "person of interest" in the cult case, and reports of her arrest strongly suggest that it was the 33-year-old Swinton who called a domestic-abuse hotline in Texas, identifying herself as "Sarah Jessop Barlow."

Claiming to be the 16-year-old mother of an 8-month-old infant and already pregnant again, "Sarah" said she had been forced into a "spiritual marriage" at the FLDS compound when she was only 15. Her parents had brought her to the site when she was 13, "Sarah" said in a series of late-March calls to the hotline, and now she was being held captive as the seventh wife of 50-year-old convicted sex offender Dale Barlow, who she said had once beaten her so badly she suffered broken ribs.

The horrifying details related by "Sarah" caused the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to file an affidavit seeking an emergency protection order that sent dozens of law enforcement and child-welfare officials swarming onto the Eldorado compound, where they took custody of 416 FLDS children.

Four days later, the San Angelo Standard-Times obtained the affidavit, which was then posted online at TheSmokingGun.com, and "Sarah" instantly became the world's most famous victim of polygamy.

Even as the brutalized teen's plight was sparking salacious tabloid stories and relentless cable TV coverage, Texas officials were discovering another problem with Sarah Jessop Barlow: She apparently doesn't exist.

Don’t confuse me with the facts?

Do you want to just go back to reading the salacious and prurient details?

1. Reread the post by Awestruck just above yours.
2. Take you hands off the keyboard and back away from the computer and mull over what Awestruck has written.
3. Be introspective enough to see how that applies to you.

This mess could take years to resolve in the Courts. No wonder more than 350 attorneys showed up for the initial hearings last week...

Yes it may take years to litigate or at least the criminal side of this. Hopefully the civil side, child custody/abuse won’t take that long and they can either return the children or place them in foster care. One of the bigger issues maybe trying to determine parentage.

As far as lawyers go a statewide call went out and they responded. In Texas by law each child must have an attorney thus the high number.

A lawyer doing what lawyers are paid to do, lie for their client.

The lawyer "lied" on national TV, and the Authorities in Arizona are backing up his story.

Using your logic the lawyers for the State of Texas are doing what they are getting paid for, lying as well.

We are all just lying, lying, lying...

How could the police know that he had never been there

Two ways

They claim to have an informant in the group

He was on probation and has a probation officer all it took was a computer check of his name for wants and warrants and they knew where he was.

Thanks for your very reasoned response. This forum has mixed many elements of what could occur over time with what this initial phase is designed to do. As you said it is a child abuse situation operating in a civil court and any other actions such as criminal proceedings will occur later.

Parental identification is one of the first major hurdles to be eliminated. You’d think each and every parent would come forward and identify their children. It may even be possible that some children there have no parents onsite.

ITS FOR THE CHILDREN:

You need to take emergency leave to go to Texas and help those poor 416 children rescued by the Texas Child Protective Services (CPS) from the Yearning For Zion (YFZ) Ranch. You could help the boys by giving them weed and teaching them to be hippies, and help the girls by cutting their hair that has never been cut since they were born and throwing away those old-fashioned long dresses and provide Abercrombie T-shirts and tight short skirts with no underwear, so they can be normal Americans like Willie Nelson and Britney Spears.

I said “unconfirmed reports.”

You are LDS. Perhaps you can track down the information and verify if it is false. That would be very helpful. I’ve given you the Stake, East Stake, Colorado Springs. Maybe there isn’t even an “East Stake.”

Never mind. I found that there is indeed a Colorado Springs, East Stake at 4955 Meadowland Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80918. Maybe that will help your search since you might have access to records that I don’t have.

What was this woman's motive for doing this? Why call another state's CPS hot line?

Why do people do anything these days? Steal. Cheat. Harm and intimidate others. Damage the national psyche

this case was certainly a wake up call to me, when I discovered how many facists were here at Free Republic.

It's caused me to ask 'where the hell am I?" more than once,

Oh, sure, no one ever disobeyed their terms of probation, so of course their probation officer would know.

And an informer knows everything that's going on on the inside, especially among the ruling class. And the people from the outside always show up with name tags that say, "Hi, I'm X, and I'm here violating my probation in another state."

No, actually, if they show too much obvious interest in what's going on among the ruling class, they attract attention to themselves. Which ends their usefulness as an inside informer.

There's a difference between a fair trial and a perfect trial. But there are a lot of fools who don't understand that, and many lawyers earn their pay by exploiting ignorance of that fact.

I always assumed the govt looks askance at EVERYONE, including supposed 16 yr old victims. Why the heck didn’t they see what the area code (if a land line) this woman was calling from? If a fake tip is good enough for the govt, why even have a tip? Just invade willy nilly.

The government is the new God for many. Religion is a mere footnote in history for many, even here. The constitution? It’s a living breathing document designed to enable the mob and agents of this new God to justify anything with the help of our sensational national media. Pray to this new God before it preys upon you. See all the finger pointing? Remind you of anything. Go against the mob and you are obviously for pedaphilia right? I guess if we don’t trust our government to be the end all, be all, then were are heretics to that new God. Beware.

sportutegrl: If this Swinton is so concerned about polygamy, then maybe she shouldn’t be supporting the son of a polygamist.

. this case was certainly a wake up call to me, when I discovered how many facists were here at Free Republic.. those to whom, due process and the Constitution don’t matter.. if they don’t like you, it doesn’t matter if there’s hard evidence or not..

Not just here. It's everywhere. The vast majority will cheer the imposition of the police state.
