"Vast right-wing conspiracy" leader's paper backs Clinton Apr 20 11:54 AM US/Eastern By BETH FOUHY Associated Press Writer PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Could it be the "vast right wing conspiracy" is having second thoughts?
Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton was endorsed Sunday by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, whose owner and publisher, billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, personally funded many of the investigations that led to President Clinton's impeachment in 1998.
It was one of a handful of endorsements the New York senator has received from Pennsylvania newspapers before the state's primary Tuesday. Most of the state's major papers have endorsed Barack Obama.
In its endorsement, Tribune-Review editors said Obama is too inexperienced to be president and that his recent comments about bitter voters living in small towns showed a lack of respect for middle-class values.
"In sharp contrast, Clinton is far more experienced in governmentas an engaged first lady to a governor and a president, as a second-term senator in her own right," the paper said. "She has a real voting record on key issues. Agree with her or not, you at least know where she stands instead of being forced to wonder."
Clinton met with the Tribune-Review's editorial board, including Scaife, last month. Afterward, Scaife wrote an editorial titled "Hillary, Reassessed," declaring how impressed he had been by the former first lady.

Media death watch.
It’s just a setup....
What did they offer him? A choice between a tour of Fort Marcy Park and a plane ride to Bosnia?
Exactly. What’s in it for him and what threat was put on the table.
The Dirty Double.
I would have thought that the Clintons would have pulled Scaife's Raw FBI file long before now.
Scaife's good friend Murtha also endorsed Hillary. Wonder what's in it for all of them?
Scaife most likely just considers Clinton the weaker general election candidate. There’s no way he actually hopes to see her President.
A stellar, ringing endorsement if I've ever read one. /s
The hildebeast you know versus the devil you don't. That's a tough choice, all right.
HF
We know Murtha is a criminal though an unidicted one.
We know Clinton is a criminal and socialist though unindicted.
I wonder if Scaife fits one or both of those categories.
"I never met such a charismatic man in my whole life," Scaife says, glowing with pleasure at the memory. "To show him that I wasn't a total Republican libertarian, I said that I had a friend named Jack Murtha," a Democratic member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. "He said, 'Oh, Jack Murtha. You're talking about my golfing partner!' "
See post above.
That speaks volumes about Scaife, he's in agreement with Monica Lewinski and I'm serious!
The Murtha thing doesn’t come as a very big surprise, I think we all suspected it.
