We need to work and pray for a McCain victory and improvements in our House and Senate numbers. God helps those that help themselves after all.

I’m a little concerned that you are having such a rough time with this. This board, and then each thread, is voluntary. If you dont click on it, it cant offend you. If seeing the thread title offends you then you are thin skinned, indeed.

I was just going to comment on a couple things here, but they kept adding up, so I decided to do a line by line reaction.

"It is my opinion that we need to pray for our leaders this election."

I believe you are right. I'll pray for them to have the wisdom, humility and will to do what is right for our country.

"Many Conservative are disappointed with the selection of Senator John S. McCain. But in one sense, he is the true conservative in values -- he has fought for campaign finance reform -- getting big money out of politics."

Ah, One, that is not conservative to limit people's speech. Two, IT DIDN'T WORK. There is more money, more big money in this election than ever before. Three, the system set up by McCain (and foolishly signed by Bush against his promise not to) has given even more power to a group of screwed up, far left, anti-American billionaires than any ever expected. Conservative? Jeesh.

"This should allow the little guy (or gal) more voice in what this country is doing."

See above.

"In some religions, it is part of the church service to pray for the leaders of a country (Ukrainian Catholic, for example)."

Okie dokie.

"We must pray for our leaders and pray that the Congress that is elected in 2008 will serve our Judeo-Christian country and help restore traditional values."

Ah, wrong. Government, by its nature, can NOT instill or restore traditional values. The US Government is especially incompetent in almost everything it does. Do not pray for this, you may get it.

"We need to win back the HOUSE and SENATE."

Pray for political success? I don't know if that is Kosher. Also I simply am unsure whether having some politicians I know nothing about, is better than having other politicians in office that I know nothing about. Why not pray for the voters to make a wise decision with their votes?

"Additionally, Senator John S. McCain may choose a Vice Presidental candidate that many conservatives will warm up to."

Okie dokie.

"I have heard it once said: YOU GET WHAT YOU PRAY FOR."

Lesson: Be careful what you pray for, see above.

"Obviously, if we are not praying (and working) for the conservatives values this country needs for this election, then God will not help us."

Okie dokie.

"We must be like the Old Widow who continually went to the Judge. Eventually, the Judge gave in the Old Widom because she continually asked the Judge to see her point of view."

The Old Judge wasn't a Democrat.

I pray continuously, and work every day, to the end that all liberals, including John McCain, lose.

Actually, if I recall correctly, it was amnesty for criminal illegal aliens (is that double criminals?). The Senate voted down an amendment to exclude amnesty for convicted criminals.

So you don't value the opinions of FReepers? Why am I not surprised? Here are some more links for you. I think most of them still work.

That's an over simplification. The Freepers who put together things like the "Giuliani truth file" and other half-baked things like that are not being true to conservatism by letting emotion get in the way of rational thought. This site lost many members this winter because some made it their mission rid FR of them.

McCain-Feingold is annoying and an insult for sure, but since McCain is right on the most important issues to me, I'm ok with him being an annoyance on some things.

In order of importance....
1. McCain is a dogged fighter in the war on terror
2. McCain supports constructivist justices like Scalia and Alito
3. McCain now supports the Bush tax cuts and is against earmarks.

The border fence will be mostly done before Bush leaves office so what you are left with in McCain is a man who is strong on defence, a social conservative and a fiscal conservative. Sounds pretty solid to me.

As an aside, my first choice was Mitt Romney. I prefered his executive experience.

The idolitry that has taken place on this forum over the last eight years has offended me intensely.

You have no right to freedom from being offended. Claiming offense is how the left justifies multiculturalism, hate speech laws, and other political correctness run amok. If I want to stand on the street corner worshipping trees and extolling the virtues of the great goddess mother nature so what? If you are so insecure that you are offended then that's a you problem. Most people would simply walk by and ignore it.

BTW, do you get offended reading the graffiti in the stalls at public restrooms? I have a feeling you do.

Interesting rationalization, even though your 1st amendment rights are probably the most important to a so-called conservative such as yourself, it's OK that McCain has almost single-handedly taken away part of that right.

OK

Pray for McInsane? Put your flame suit on.
It is my opinion that we need to pray for our leaders this election.

Many Conservative are disappointed with the selection of Senator John S. McCain. But in one sense, he is the true conservative in values -- he has fought for campaign finance reform -- getting big money out of politics. This should allow the little guy (or gal) more voice in what this country is doing.

We need to win back the HOUSE and SENATE.

Additionally, Senator John S. McCain may choose a Vice Presidential candidate that many conservatives will warm up to.

I have heard it once said: YOU GET WHAT YOU PRAY FOR.

John McCain is a vindictive, petty, backstabbing, snake in the grass, traitor - and he just happens to detest conservatives. And if he had/has his way, the USA will be a new province of Mexico. Additionally, for what HE did with his 'good friend' John Kerry to POWs and MIAs and their families he will burn in Hell.

Pray for him? Ha! A pox on him is more like it. He is completely and utterly detestable.

Nice spam.

More left-wing tactics.

If you cannot answer a critic, label the critic or what he is saying with some negative adjective.

Face it, McCain is not a conservative, and is a horrible candidate

You sir, are what is known today as a hater. That's ok. Every player has haters. McCain is a player, you are a hater. Let's take your hate-points McCain's History:

That statement was so silly it is infantile.

I provide you with historical facts, and you respond by calling me a hater and my facts as hate-points?

Did you use to work for Pravda? Goebbels?

Another McCain supporter employing the worst tactics of the Left.
