I wish someone would provide a timeline better than the one Heritage provides. I get the distinct impression that everyone thinks Sec. Chertoff was supposed to fly in, wave his magic wand, and "pow," border fence.

The Secure Fence Act was passed in late 2006, and even then Congress failed to appropriate funds for it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
