New York, April 19: Apparently tired of bickering between presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Democratic Party leaders are likely to pressurise the former US first lady to withdraw if she performs badly in the crucial Pennsylvania primary on Tuesday, analysts say.
However, should she decide to continue to fight until the party convention on August 24 in Denver, the party can do little about it.
But with several party leaders asserting that the vicious campaign is doing damage to the ability of the Democratic party to take on Republican candidate John McCain, pressure is likely to mount on super delegates elected officials to declare their preference so that the candidate with lesser numbers could be persuaded to withdraw.
In the debate in Philadelphia earlier this week, both candidates had said that their fight would not affect the Democratic Party's ability to defeat McCain and that they would get united once the nominee is chosen.
But the party bosses do not think so. They say if the fight continues until August, the party would lose three crucial months of campaigning apart from the fact that the Republicans would give ammunition to damage whichever candidate is nominated.
Party Chairman Howard Dean, media reports say, has been urging the super delegates to make up their mind early as there is no chance of either candidate getting enough pledged delegates. The super delegates are not committed to anyone and decide on their own.
Meanwhile, Clinton slightly shifted the line of attack on Obama, challenging his ability to manage the country when he is complaining about tough questioning during the debate in which his performance, all analysts agree, was below par.
Giuliani used the same strategy. Only he gave up.
The super delegates exist solely to prevent the party from going over the cliff. If the popular vote, or the delegate count mattered and the superdelegates were to simply follow the voters (or caucus goers) lead then you wouldn’t need superdelegates as they are superfluous to the process: the Demo voters would be empowered to choose.
I hesitate to admit it, but I pity Dean on this. The party is staring at a train wreck about to happen and can only help themselves by pushing it to a head now and then hopefully use the time to the convention to rally around their hatred for the Republicans. All that typical liberal crap about healing and whatnot.
What a bunch of poltroons.

It’s amazing that BO ran a serious campaign at all. The Dem Party is meritocratic and run like a union. The person with “seniority” gets their turn to run, etc.
The only explanation for BO’s continued campaign is that the different ethnic/gender groups within the Dem party are using this politically risky BO & Hillary contest, on both sides, to (hopefully) grab and establish long term power for their particular coalition - both in govt., and in the Party itself.
Party bosses may ask Hillary Clinton to quit ...

There are no party bosses or leaders in the Democrat Party. If there were, then they would not have got themselves into the mess in which they find themselves in Florida and Michigan. Anyone posing as a leader in the Democrat Party who approaches Hillary will have Michigan and Florida hung around their neck like an albatross. Because the Democrats are so good at vote rigging and shady elections, then Hillary’s claims that Michigan and Florida ought to count has a lot of resonance in the Democrat Party. The blunders of Florida and Michigan are at this point the buffer keeping Hillary in the race.
Wow! I hadn't thought of it that way. They really are in deep doo-doo! I'm starting to feel a bit encouraged. Operation Chaos is great medicine.
A Clinton withdraw prematurely?

I was listening to a somewhat left-leaning radio talk show the day after the TX primaries. The one word 90% of the folks calling in who had voted there used was the all-encompassing verion of SNAFU. The poor schoolkids had a big state test the next day and people kept them at the caucus locations well into the night to be able to cast their vote. Based on the testimonies of those who attended, it was a stinkin’ mess all the way around. Doesn’t sound very reliable to me.
Why not? They ejaculate prematurely all the time.

An investigation that’s long overdue. His NV land deals are pretty questionable.

My bet is they want her to quit so the MSM can take the focus off Obama for a few days and praise Hillary for uniting the party behind a great candidate.
Then when Obama is implicated in the Rezko scandal, right around October 15th, they can bring Hillary back in with the support of the entire party.
Free media so she wouldn’t have to raise money, no debates so the Republicans cannot hammer her and no questions from the press.
Then all she has to do in the general is steal Ohio.
My bet it this is how it is going to play out.

Here is another, if Mrs. Bill Clinton loses this time as looks evident, do you think those who have given millions of dollars and or their time to her presidential aspirations will do so again in 2012? If McCain were to beat Obamma of course.

If anyone thinks she'll step aside for the "good of the party", that person is seriously deranged. Hillary doesn't care about the party.
She cares about Hillary, and she's entitled to be President, dammit. She's not going to step aside for the Magic Mulatto. Too much pride narcissim is at stake.
