Polygamous-sect children ordered to stay in Texas custody (DNA Tests Ordered)

SAN ANGELO, Texas -- More than 400 children taken from a ranch run by a polygamous sect will stay in state custody and be subject to genetic testing, a judge ruled Friday. State District Judge Barbara Walther heard 21 hours of testimony over two days before ruling that the children be kept by the state. Individual hearings will be set for the children over the next several weeks. She ordered that all children and parents be given genetic testing. Child welfare officials have said they've had difficulty determining how the children and parents are related because of evasive or changing answers.

That seems kind of arrogant. You initiated a conversation with me. I do not have time to read every post or even every article on this subject. I did not start a conversation with you disputing your claims. What makes you think I am supposed to retrace your previous posts to get this information?

See, the thing about FR is that anyone gets to jump in anywhere and comment. It may seem arrogant to you, but it's just tiring to me, and OTHERS, who have posted the same answer to the same question on thread after thread.

If you can't keep up, but want to insist that others answer your question no matter how many times it's been addressed, THAT's what seems arrogant.

Yeah, I kind of like his Mexican Generals idea, too.

Let me know when you run for office, I’ll look forward to being one of the first people on the bandwagon.

The same accusations were made at Mt. Carmel, so if you fail to see the connection I doubt you will see the one above either (#162).

Reading this post dripping with sarcastic condemnation for the authorities, one would think that you find it preferable to allow these young, young girls to be savaged, raped and impregnated by these lecherous, so called “spiritual elders. Disgusting.

I still want to know why it took officials so long to try to resolve this problem

I think there's two obvious reasons. First is the reaction we see on some of the FR threads. The second is the massive political fall out from the 1953 raid on the same group.

Bull Fricken' $hit!!!

Since when did a handful of nasty old men impregnate every little girl in Jr. High Schools across the country as soon as they start ovulating?

“The same accusations were made at Mt. Carmel, so if you fail to see the connection I doubt you will see the one above either (#162).”

For crying out loud that is the connection? cult/child abuse?

That is an eternal problem and you will see that combination all of the rest of your life.

Cults and sex go hand in hand, so many times it will involve children as well, remember running the Children of God out of Texas early 70s? They ended up having to leave the country.

“””Berg loosely associated himself with evangelist Fred Jordan and was allowed to establish communal living at Jordan’s “Soul-Clinic Ranch” in Texas. After parents began to organize and raise very negative publicity concerning the “brainwashing” of their children, Jordan in 1971 asked Berg and his followers (between two and three thousand) to leave (The Mindbenders, Jack Sparks, pp. 158-159). Berg began to organize communes (colonies) with tight hierarchical control. According to The Family’s statement there were 130 COG colonies in 15 countries in 1972 (”Our Family’s Origins,” World Services, April 1992). They raised money initially by fund-raising, forsaking all, then by “litnessing,” that is, selling designated Mo Letters to the public.”

“About this time, Berg changed his name to Moses (God’s prophet) and David (King of Israel). In 1972, Berg claimed to have the “understanding of Daniel” and began making false prophesies including that California would be destroyed by an earthquake, and that the United States would be destroyed by the comet Kohoutek by January 1974. He also prophesied that Christ was to return in 1993. During this time, Berg began his descent into the occult as he frequently wrote about his contacts and involvement with spirit guides”

“Berg once described America as “the whore” (as in the Book of Revelation’s allegorical “whore of Babylon,” a city that is destroyed) and warned that the comet Kohoutek, then due to appear shortly, would signal coming destruction in the United States.

Already under pressure from parents trying to “rescue” their children from the group, the Children of God followed Berg’s warnings and migrated abroad — first to Europe, eventually to Latin America and East Asia.”””

In fact, 55% of girls under 15 who become pregnant are impregnated by men at least 5 years older than they are, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research and public education arm of Planned Parenthood.

Posted upthread.

"I know Christians here think that siding against this cult is siding with morality against the currents of immorality in our culture. It is not. This nation is morally about where Germany was when Hitler rose to power. We should not entrust such powers to an immoral group of judges and politicians. It may lead to internment camps, torture and mass murders by the kind of sexual deviants that worked their way into power in Germany and have throughout our political landscape as well. Don’t think it can’t happen here.

Now, I don't care who you are, that there is some funny stuff.

Well, apparently you haven't been following this today if that is still your lame argument...they said today [ over and over] that there are more than twenty underage girls who are either pregnant are already mothers, one they believe is only 13.

There is believed to be more, but many of these children don't know how old they are and are afraid to say even if they even think they know their age.

Who are you that I should consider you the defacto authority on this matter?

You seem to think you are, and that I should know it, but you have not established ANY credibility.

You challenged my comments, insulted me, then complained that I had not done my homework by researching your comments.

Considering that it was you who initiated the conversation I think it is reasonable to expect you to make your case even if you have already done it a thousand times.

Maybe you are the authority on this. Maybe I am wrong and you are right. But I’ll never know if all you do is assert your authority and insult me, but make no case.

The fact that you responded to my critique the way you have tends to confirm that my first impression was right.

“See, the thing about FR is that anyone gets to jump in anywhere and comment. “

I have been on FR long enough to know what it is about.

“It may seem arrogant to you, but it’s just tiring to me, and OTHERS, who have posted the same answer to the same question on thread after thread.”

If you are too tired to carry your part of the conversation that you initiated, then don’t start it. Go get some sleep. Come back in a better mood.

“If you can’t keep up, but want to insist that others answer your question”

I did not come looking for information from you. I responded politely to your assertion with a question, giving you the benefit of the doubt. You responded by biting my head off.

I regret that I asked.

I don’t want to know your opinion any more.

It no longer interests me.

There is a helluva lot of difference in 5 years older and 30 or 40 fricken' years older!

That is one idiotic comparison is all I can say.

My question is why did the woman make the call? Was this a prank or the only way to get the police to investigate?

Well, neither, at least as far as I see it. The more I see and learn, the more I believe that these people believed that girls were to be impregnated as soon as they could be impregnated. I also believe the police had much more evidence than one phone call before removing hundreds of the children.

If you devoted as much energy to keeping up with the information you claim to want, as you do in crafting lengthy personal putdowns, you wouldn’t need to be asking questions that have been answered a dozen or more times by various posters on numerous threads.

Because cults are a tough nut to crack, this cult was raided in 1935, 1944, and 1953 and it was costly in terms of stirring up the Mormon voters, the Governor in 1953 lost his job.

For about five years now there has been a greater cooperation among some of the western states on dealing with this cult, even Canada is cooperating.

This cult is powerful, rich, and large, about 10,000 members large. It was important that Texas act at the right time, in the right way, and it looks like they did.

You asked for the connection, all the while you ignore the pregnant school children all over this country. Building full time daycare centers at their schools is not condoning the behavior? This by the same "government" that decides which is a cult and which is not? Doesn't the public school system resemble a cult in it's indoctrination of everything leftist?

Feel free to express whatever outrage you see fit, I just ask that you apply it evenly to ALL pregnant 13 year olds. Not just the ones that YOU decide are in a cult, anything else is hypocrisy.
