The Damage Done
Newsweek ^ | April 18th, 2008 | Eleanor Clift

Posted on 04/18/2008 1:28:23 PM PDT by The_Republican

The "bitter" answer, captured on audiotape, came in response to a question about whether Obama could win white rural voters because he is black. He basically said these voters have other grievances more salient than race, which is why they don't vote their economic interests and are vulnerable to wedge issues having to do with God, gays and guns.

Clinton surely knows what Obama was trying to say, but seeing her path to the nomination narrowing, she manipulated his words for political gain. Fair enough. She hurts him, but she hurts herself more.

Pollster Doug Schoen, who has advised her in the past but is not associated with the campaign, wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post urging her to switch permanently to attack mode—because that's the only way she can win. She's already tarred with running a negative campaign, so she has nothing to lose, he argued.

Karl Rove, sitting on the same panel, said Clinton had run a poor campaign and should have responded sooner and more forcefully that Wright "wouldn't be my pastor."

Rove chortled over how vulnerable he thinks Obama will be once the Republicans get hold of him. He said that the speech on race that the media slobbered over was the most cynical exercise he's ever seen. He carries a copy of it in his briefcase just to keep him on his game.

The Philadelphia debate didn't do anything to help either candidate, and quite possibly hurt them both, but we are slowly evolving toward a result that seems increasingly inevitable: Obama as a Democratic nominee whose vulnerabilities boost chances of a Republican victory in the fall.

Gads, Elenor Clift would loose an argument with the local newsnight bimbo. What a loon. I expect facts, butressed by logic. Good old Elenor has neither. Why do the networks insist on such fools? Do they actually think this aids feminists? I use her, Baba Wawa, and friends as examples of anti-feminism. I use Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham as examples of true intellectual women who can give far more than they get.

Lies Newsweek writer and Obama groupie Clift…The "bitter" answer, captured on audiotape, came in response to a question about whether Obama could win white rural voters because he is black. He basically said these voters have other grievances more salient than race, which is why they don't vote their economic interests and are vulnerable to wedge issues having to do with God, gays and guns.

Eleanor, Eleanor, Eleanor. You choose to equate … they get bitter, they cling to … antipathy to people who aren’t like them … with He basically said these voters have other grievances more salient than race…

Nupe, not even close.

Now, I’m not saying this, it's entirely hypothetical. But if someone accused Newsweek of pimping you for Obama, would that be the same as having journalistic activities more salient than true characterization of your favorite candidate?

Newsweek is staffed by puppets.

Obama isn’t even a serious candidate; his job is just to make Hillary look “centrist” while keeping some radical “Democrats” interested in the primaries.

Eleanor doesn’t have kneepads, she has callouses that LOOK
like kneepads.

“He basically said these voters have other grievances more salient than race, which is why they don’t vote their economic interests and are vulnerable to wedge issues having to do with God, gays and guns.

Gee Barrak, maybe those wedge issues threaten their economic interests maybe even their way of life, maybe race doesn’t matter to them like it does to you?

Baaaah. Trying to talk logic to liberals is like trying to explain algebra to a dog.
