Police in Colorado Springs have arrested a woman for investigation of making a false report to authorities that may be connected to the Fundamentalist LDS Church's raid on the YFZ Ranch in Texas. The woman allegedly has a history of making calls while pretending to be a young girl.
Rozita Swinton, 33, was arrested on a warrant charging her with false reporting to authorities, a misdemeanor, the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed in a brief statement issued late Thursday. Swinton was arrested at her home on Wednesday in connection with an incident that occurred in Colorado Springs in February, police said

“It doesn't really matter, since FLDS women claim to be the mothers of the children of their “sister wives” as well, even though they are not legally the mothers of other women's children.”
Look, if the mother says that is my child, I gave birth to that child then, unless that statement is rebutted with something, or by someone, anyone, then it should be enough.
“Moreover, there exists no reliable documentation of who is actually whose child - given the confusion of the situation, even if these women had been verbally claiming their actual biological children (which they weren't) there was not enough reliable data for CPS workers to leave them in the custody of the women.”
What? Might as well take my children. I don't have docs to show they are mine. Heck lots of parents have lost the birth certificate. Lots of parents don't have documentation, on hand, to show that kid is my kid. Seriously, you have to concede that unless there was something indicating that the mother's claim to the child was disputed, then it should have been heeded.
“aragon is this your child?” Yes! “Please show me papers.” I don't have any papers. “Well then we are taking your child.” NO WAY not in this country. Allow me to refer you to the 2nd Amendment pal.
The named affiants: Rebecca Baxter, Ruby Gutierrez, Tina Martinez, and Leslie Brooks Long.
Swinton is a copycat caller, not the state's witness.
The desert news knows that, but then I think they support this kind of child abuse.
They can track it to the phone, or at least the household or business for land lines. However, that doesn't unnecessarily mean they can track it to the person that called.
Pay phones do still exist, as do no-contract, prepaid cell phones, though you'd have to get rid of the prepaid phone after it was used.
I'm sure by now they have pulled the phone records from the shelter that received the calls from "Sara", though I'm sure they had be very explicit about what data they were seeking in the warrant to protect the rights of others calling the shelter.
I'm sure they know what phone the call was made from. If it was a cell phone, I'm sure they know where the cell phone was located when the call was made, at least to the location of the cell tower the call went through.
If the call came from this woman's phone in Colorado Springs, she's going to be in a lot of trouble.
Nope, sorry.
Might as well take my children. I don't have docs to show they are mine.
Your county registrar does.
Heck lots of parents have lost the birth certificate. Lots of parents don't have documentation, on hand, to show that kid is my kid.
I do. It's kind of difficult to enroll your children in school, have them on your health insurance, get them a social security card, enroll them is sports programs, etc. without them.
Most people keep such documents in a safe deposit box, along with wills, deeds, etc.
Beat me to it, the closest thing to anonymous is buy a prepaid phone and throwing it away after a few minutes. But then if the law really wants to find you there is probably a picture of you buying the phone.
I don’t think the children were removed based upon not being able to furnish documents of which child belonged to whom. Go read the affidavits and search and arrest warrant that was issued. I don’t have links right now at hand but they have been posted several times on various threads. I think they are at The Smoking Gun, San Angelo Standard Times and maybe the Salt Lake Tribune and others.

KSL radio in SLC.
About 11:30 pm last night.
I was driving, so I didn’ get a link.
“Most people keep such documents in a safe deposit box, along with wills, deeds, etc.”
Most people don't have a safe deposit box.
Most people don't have a will.
My kids health insurance required I show a birth certificate one time years ago.
Similarly to get the ss # I had only to show the birth certificate once.
Same for school.
For sports nobody asks for a birth certificate.
County registrar ... ok .... maybe whatever and wherever that is but that is certainly not “on hand”.
Trust me, you are not most people.
And these FLDS people are certainly not like most people. They are home schooled. Their kids didn't attend sports programs. They didn't have a need for docs.
And being like most people is not a standard I am familiar with.
Finally, is it your position then that should a parent be unable to produce documentation, that the child is subject to State Seizure for this reason alone?
Thanks I’ll go check em out.
Couldn't you go down to the courthouse and get your papers? If they are in another State, couldn't you write for copies? You don't have school papers, Church papers, SS# or birth certificates for your children? really?
I could get them yes. But it would take some time. Heck I don’t even have my own birth certificate.
They could lock you up for that, you know. If a policeman asks for identification, you'd better show some or be able to have someone secure those papers for you ASAP. Drivers License, birth certificate, baptism certificate, SS#... .anything, or you won't have your freedom for long.
No they can’t.
I don’t have to provide identification.
I mean, if so, then we might as well live in the old USSR.
Seriously, you don’t have to carry identification. But if driving then you do have to have your license with you.
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the affidavit does not address my underlying question which is did the mothers identify their children.
If you are fishing, you’d better be able to show them a license. If you don’t have one, you’d better be able to provide ID. Same with driving.
If the law confiscates your belongings, you’d better be able to prove they are yours. You’re car? Show proof of ownership. Your briefcase full of money? Do you have proof it’s your?
But IMHO you are just trying to obsfucate the fact that this sect is secretive, elusive, accused of crime....in fact members have been CONVICTED of the very same crimes these are accused of. But like I said, that my $.02.
Last thing I'd ever want to do is defend these crazies or their life choice. But when I see kids taken en mass from their parents then I want to know it's being done right and for the right reasons. I want to “know” that the kids are taken to protect them from harm and not from a disfavored lifestyle. So, rape, abuse, the threat of same, ... take the kids.... absolutely.
And most curious to me is the boys. Why did they take the boys? Has anyone alleged anything having to do with the boys? No one has said the boys were in trouble. Why did they take the boys? IMHO they disapproved of the lifestyle and removed not just the boys but all the children for this reason.
Heck, if you want to start with community lifestyles then go to some Indian reservations where teen pregnancy is extremely common. Are you kidding me. I'd go into this more but as relates to American Indians it would be non PC to do so. But if you want to see children in need of help .....
Your reply to me:Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the affidavit does not address my underlying question which is did the mothers identify their children.
Deport's post referenced the Affadavit. I was trying to provide a service. Sorry it didn't suit your agenda.
Actually the boys and their DNA could be evidence. It is possible and likely that, either they are a product of the crimes against these young women, or they are the mates of these young women and fathers of their offspring.
The DNA from the boys is just as valuable as from the girls.
These children are not isolated, but are with other children they know and love. Some of the teens in custody have been their caregivers even while at the ranch. They are among family and friends simply by being with one another. I am praying for a good outcome to this case.
I wonder if you have heard the allegations of Brent Jeffs. He is one of the “lost boys” and nephew of Warren Jeffs. He contends that Jeffs raped him beginning at age five.
