Ben Stein vs. Sputtering Atheists
Media Research Center ^ | April 17, 2008 | L. Brent Bozell III

Posted on 04/17/2008 4:07:06 PM PDT by Aristotelian

I confess that when the producers of Ben Stein’s new documentary “Expelled” called, offering me a private screening, I was less than excited.

It is a reality of PC liberalism: There is only one credible side to an issue, and any dissent is not only rejected, it is scorned. Global warming. Gay “rights.” Abortion “rights.” On these and so many other issues there is enlightenment, and then there is the Idiotic Other Side. PC liberalism’s power centers are the news media, the entertainment industry and academia and all are in the clutches of an unmistakable hypocrisy: Theirs is an ideology that preaches the freedom of thought and expression at every opportunity, yet practices absolute intolerance toward dissension.

Evolution is another one of those one-sided debates. We know the concept of Intelligent Design is stifled in academic circles. An entire documentary to state the obvious? You can see my reluctance to view it.

I went into the screening bored. I came out of it stunned.

Ben Stein’s extraordinary presentation documents how the worlds of science and academia not only crush debate on the origins of life, but also crush the careers of professors who dare to question the Darwinian hypothesis of evolution and natural selection.

Stein asks a simple question: What if the universe began with an intelligent designer, a designer named God? He assembles a stable of academics – experts all -- who dared to question Darwinist assumptions and found themselves “expelled” from intellectual discourse as a result. They include evolutionary biologist Richard Sternberg (sandbagged at the Smithsonian), biology professor Caroline Crocker (drummed out of George Mason University), and astrophysicist Guillermo Gonzalez (blackballed at Iowa State University).

That’s disturbing enough, but what Stein does next is truly shocking. He allows the principal advocates of Darwinism to speak their minds.

‘”Evolutionism”, is defined by the OED as “The theory of evolution, evolutionary assumptions or principles”. Creationists tend to use the term evolutionism in a misleading sense in order to suggest that evolution and creationism are equal in a philosophical debate.’

The theory of evolution, evolutionary assumptions or principles

That's exactly how I'm using it. Evolutionism is a philosophical approach which evolutionists use to interpret data which, if not viewed through their philosophical lens, are not readily apparent as supportive of evolution and its allied assumptions.

Science doesn't deal in proof it deals in evidence and the evidence of the power of selective pressure to mold and shape a species has been observed throughout human history. A beagle a dachshund and a wolfhound were all once a wolf.

What do you mean by “philosophical approach which evolutionists use to interpret data which, if not viewed through their philosophical lens, are not readily apparent as supportive of evolution and its allied assumptions.”

More credible than Ben Stein who claims that Richard Sternberg was fired from the Smithsonian Institution.

Ben Stein’s pile of propaganda would make Michael Moore blush.

” Evolution doesn’t cover the origin of life. That is another field of science “

LOL Pricless ! You don`t get to set the terms of the debate since logic demands that evolutionists prove how the first protein made itself which logically led to monkies becoming men.

Darwin has been proven wrong so many times it`s now become redundant, origin of baleen in whales being one.

Even Dawkins noted that scientific theories (neo darwinism) can rely on only so much “luck” before they cease to be credible.

Nice try junoir.

Where were these idiots when Fartandhype 911 came out to debunk Moore-on?

I am surprised you missed this piece in Scientific American where they debunk the 9/11 Conspiracy Theories.

Try Again!

Provide a test for your favorite deity and then he/she/it/they can be considered a part of science.

Religion has always been about faith. You as the "scientist" are the one who must disprove religion. After all, science deals with facts and incontrovertible rules, right?
Therefore....YOU prove the beginning of life. Your whole "theory" stands or falls on that.
As for me and my house. We will trust the Lord.

The theory of evolution doesn’t concern itself with the origin of life.

Pricless indeed. A lightning bolt manufactured the first protein from nothing ! ?

Priceless.

Amino acid, snoogums. It helps to learn before you pontificate.

NO. You don't understand science at all do you? Go learn about empiricism and the scientific method and get back to me.

Secondary education would do you good snoogums.

You forgot to post the March 1974 issue of the mag that states we have entered a period of global cooling that will soon end the human race. If this is your bible than I see you only post when it favors your postion and you do not post its errors.

” Go learn about empiricism and the scientific method and get back to me.”

LOL! Can it get even more priceless ?

Darwin himself on OoS, “ Thank you heartily for what you say about my book; but you will be greatly disappointed; it will be grievously too hypothetical.”

 NO U snoogums. Can you even state the central thesis of the origin of species and how it was developed? Fundamentally you're so woefully ignorant that you can't even understand *why* you're stupid.

I did not ever say that Scientific American is infallible but rather suggested that they had little difficulty pointing out the lies and distortions in the Ben Stein Propaganda piece.

” Amino acid, snoogums. It helps to learn before you pontificate. “

LOL The priceless waif continues with it`s nothings.

AA`s come in 3D chains.MIT biochemists already tackled this. The odds remain.Calculated odds of finding a folded protein are about 1 in 10 to the 65 power.

NOW , when will the atheist/darwinists prove a single protein arose unaided.

You are at once, priceless yet worthless.
