Pelosi takes Communion at papal Mass By Mike Soraghan Posted: 04/17/08 03:52 PM [ET]
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she felt very comfortable taking Communion during the Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI, who has said supporters of abortion rights should not receive Communion.
Communion is the body of the people of the church coming together, Pelosi said at her weekly news conference after returning from the Mass. I feel very much a part of that.
The Speaker was effusive about the service, reading a passage from the popes sermon and praising his beautiful message of hope.
Staffers said Pelosi received Communion during the service, but not from the pope himself.
The issue of abortion has frequently been awkward for both the Roman Catholic Church and its members who favor abortion rights. A few of the more than 250 U.S. bishops have said they would withhold Communion from Catholic lawmakers who support abortion rights.
In 2004, several American bishops said they would deny Communion to then-Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) because of his views on abortion.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

Yes, the life blood of the left. Massive hypocrisy. They are a living lie.
And She’s still alive?I surprised it didn’t burn a hole through the bottom of her mouth.
You don't become spiritually healthier by committing sacrilege. We have the sacrament of Confession for people who are conscious of sin and want to repent. This should be explained more frequently from the pulpit.
I would have liked to have seen her try and receive from the Pope.
She will have to live with herself. She will know what she has done wrong one day.
Huh? I am Catholic and Communion is no such thing as Pelosi states. Catholic Communion is the receiving of the body and blood of Christ.
That woman needs to be taken back behind a wood shed.
There...fixed that for ya San Fran Gran...
By now Speaker Pelosi should be aware that she is not in communion with the teachings of the Church. I realize she is doing the mental gymnastics necessary to “say it isn't so”, but I'm certain, if you asked her, she would not feel as though she took communion sacrilegiously and be 100 percent confident that she did not defile the consecrated body of Christ. She would, as so many have suggested, be much more comfortable at an Episcopalian Church or even UCC. She would find the message to her liking (and I'm not even suggesting that it would be Dr. Wright's message), but it would be a good fit.
Unfortunately, people will see Pelosi ( and her pro abortion minions) receiving Communion as a tacit acceptance for their horribly wrong positions.
I would hate to think that Ted Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi ad nauseum is allowed to particpate because of generous donations to the Dioceses of Boston, Washington and San Francisco. Unfortunately, my past experiences (being an altar boy and 12 years of Catholic education)lead me to think this is a contributing factor to the lack of the RC hierarchy standing up to pro abortion politicians.
You hit the nail on the head. I was so excited and happy with the Pope’s visit and everything seemed right on. However, this has let the air out of the balloon and the church has let the likes of pelosi spit in their face. Our Catholic church is not what it was meant to be.
That’s about right. The clergy who are knowingly giving communion to her and other unrepentant murderers are facilitating this.
And neither of us is Regis Philbin...
the infowarrior
Nancy is third in line for the Presidency, and she didn’t receive communion from the Pope?
I think perhaps she avoided getting in line to receive it from him — so as not to embarrass him (or more to the point, herself).
That in itself speaks to her guilt on the matter of abortion.
Poor Nancy, she needs more than prayers...
