Doctors say it's amazing that a 41-year-old Tampa-area woman survived after someone shot her right between the eyes while she was riding in her boyfriend's pickup truck.
Doctors think she was hit with a .44-caliber bullet that broke in two pieces, each traveling under her skin and exiting behind her ears last weekend. She was released from the hospital hours later with just stitches.
The woman says two cars started following their truck Saturday night and the occupants began yelling at them.
At a traffic light, someone in one of the cars stood up in the sunroof and started shooting back at the truck.
Part of the bullet that hit the woman exited her head, went through the back window of the truck and hit a Jeep driving behind it.

Sounds like she had some Divine Intervention that saved her life.
Lets hope the same can’t be said about the thug who shot her when his time comes.
Sometimes bullets just do strange things.
I guess, the converse of the fatalistic “if your number’s up, your number’s up” is “if your number’s not up, your numbers’ not up.” (Also a tautology, but there it is.)
must have been one of those new Chinese bullets.
/pessimistic today

Well Tampa just sounds like a lovely town.
Yep, figures. About as hard headed as my wife.
You beat me to it.....I was thinking the same thing.
Wow! I thought my wife was hard-headed but this takes the cake!
I noticed the “shooting back” sentence too. It never said that the woman or the driver of the pickup was shooting. Who was the shooter shooting back at, I wonder....
Poor reporting.
No one I met at this time doctors, nurses, practicantes, or fellow-patients failed to assure me that a man who is hit through the neck and survives it is the luckiest creature alive. I could not help thinking that it would be even luckier not to be hit at all. Orwell, Homage to Catalonia.
Refer to Magic Bullet in Dallas.
Wow!
“She was released from the hospital hours later with just stitches.”
...what no headache?
Admirably tough gal! Hope she has the wherewithal to shoot back next time.
I doubt it was a 44, probably one of those pantywaist 40 calâs.
I think they mean that a car ahead of them had an occupant stand up in the sunroof and said occupant “shot back” or backward at the truck she was in behind the shooter’s car.
Poorly worded article.
I believe it was referring to the direction of the firing. Backwards instead of forwards.
Poor reporting."
Might also be ambiguous language. I read the shooting back as shooting at the vehicle behind the shooter, not returning fire.
