Have women come out of this cult claiming that bank robberies have taken place?

I don't think so.

However, women have left this cult and told horrible stories about what goes on. That and the call is enough for CPS to investigate, and in the case of this cult, that meant taking - at least - temporary protective custody since they weren't going to cooperate.

The Ervil LeBaron cult was similar. One of his nieces said ol' Erv murdered 39 people. At the same time the cult's primary source of income was to steal appliances from homes and then transport them to Mexico for sale.

Took the cops years to figure that one out ~ steal used stuff to sell!

Ervil had an appliance repair business that was a front for this.

If the FLDS is into half the stuff Erv was into we will see no end to the trials.

The point was merely that crimes, regardless of the nature, must be investigated and prosecuted equally. You have to agree that you'd appreciate a fair investigation if you were accused of a crime, right? Horrible stories aren't proof that crimes were committed. An anonymous phone call isn't proof of a crime. Let's keep a level head - all citizens are entitled to justice. Remember Nifong and the Duke students? Lastly, investigating is fine, but taking children away from their homes is common for CPS. I agree that it's probably better to remove any possible and, more importantly, credible threat to helpless people. CPS staff are not above suspicion themselves- here is an article from Senator Schaefer from Georgia about hte abuses of CPS: http://www.senatornancyschaefer.com/articles.php?filter=6
