I believe Springsteen was exactly who Alice Cooper had in mind when he made his famous statements about idiots who look to rock stars for political advice.
I do not remember the exact statement, but to paraphrase:
Rock stars stay up until 4 a.m. and sleep until noon. They know nothing about national events and politics and the only people dumber about these topics are those who look to them for political advice.
For the most part, entertainers live and work in a make-believe world which includes drugs, promiscuous sex and compensation which far, far exceeds what they contribute. It is only natural that they support candidates who live and work in the same kind of alternative universe of politics.

I have been looking for a way express how I feel about entertainers and politics in a short statement. I believe you have nailed it and I apologize up front, because I plan on plagiarizing you.
