The last months of a presidential administration are often dangerous. Presidents -- looking to their legacies -- go to desperate lengths to try to enhance their reputations for posterity. A pungent example of such practices by the Bush administration was reported above the fold on the front page of The Washington Times Monday: "Bush prepares global warming initiative."
Oh, dear. Just as an increasing number of scientists are finding their courage to speak out against the global warming alarmists and just as a building body of evidence and theories challenge the key elements of the human-centric carbon-based global warming theories, George W. Bush takes this moment to say, in effect: "We are all global alarmists now."
Equally frightening is the emerging strategy of using global warming policy to crush the economies of the West, but not of the "developing" nations. Also reported on the front page of Monday's Washington Times was the story of Yvo de Boer, executive secretary of the U.N. climate treaty secretariat. This dangerous U.N. official stated that he wants to exempt China and India from carbon emissions regulation and taxation. In an example of suicidal liberal guilt, this blithering nitwit argued that the United States and Europe have "a historic responsibility" for emitting carbons -- and thus should pay the price now.

China ALREADY emits more CO2 than the US, and by 2014 they will emit TWICE as much CO2 as the US. Even if we cut our CO2 to 0 by then (which means we all have to stop breathing and DIE), China will still produce as much CO2 as we and they do TODAY.
We need to flood the White HOuse with e-mails and phone calls, as well as write you Congressman. The future of our children are being taken away for no reason other than ideaology.
Flood McCain with EMails. Bush is a lame duck.
According to Rush yesterday the strategy is to demand that China and India be included in this round of targets, which they won’t accept and the plan will fail, which is Bush’s strategy. I still wish he had the stones to stand up to the alarmists and say we will not destroy Western economies for your religion. Unfortunately, he doesn’t.
Maybe Bush is doing the strategery thing here...if he calls on ALL NATIONS to reduce CO2, then it is like saying NO NATION will reduce CO2...cause you know damn well CHINA and INDIA aren’t going to slow down their now thriving economies...so, in response, we won’t have to either. :)
Of all the things to criticize Bush for, his global warming position is not one of them. Bush has stood his ground despite being condemn by the leaders of virtually every other nation for not going along with all the global warming fear-mongering BS. I give Bush an A+ for his policy on global warming. Unfortunately the three leading candidates for President all have D’s or F’s in this area.
Bush is a piece of shit,
trying to live out the last
days of his presidency
Nah, flood 'em with letters with paper made from virgin forests. ;)
Take the worst, liberal aspects of Bush, and you have McCain.
Bush is a liberal. This is just par for the course. How many times do I have to say this?
Another follower of the great Goracle.
Treaties are irrelevant.
China has so much product contamination, does anyone SERIOUSLY believ ty would give a rats backside about a polution treaty?
you are 100% right, they can’t take the USA out with bombs so they are going to take us out by regulation. It is akin to the French revolution, the first thing you do after the revolutionis kill the revolutionaries.
I HAVE NO MORE USE FOR THIS SORRY EXCUSE OF A “PRESIDENT”. Screw ‘em.
Facts have little to do with this. If the USA is to have any influence on the discussion it must be in the discussion. I can’t believe this pyramid scheme should be sweeping the planet, but apparently it is. Dubya joins the discussion but does not commit to specific numbers and should not.
Let’s wait until the speech to condemn Bush. I suspect he’ll set some sort of voluntary targets.
