Jason Mattera of Young America's Foundation strikes again. This time, he approached Ted Kennedy and confronted him on hypocrisy regarding the estate tax he basically does not pay. Not that we're surprised but here ya go:

Why would Warren Buffet or Bill Gates pay estate tax when they’re both self-made?
Jason has Ted dodging and weaving. Same gotcha smile at the end (as with Murtha’s elevator interview).
Overseas trusts. That’s the way to avoid an Estate Taxes...
The guy has a lot of gonads to ask Kennedy a question like that. If I were him I would not get in any car’s that Kennedy was driving!
FatBoy Ping.
They have both set up massive multi billion trust funds just like Joseph P. Kennedy did that will ensure that the children, grandchildren and g-g grandchildren will live their entire lives in the lap of luxury with no interference from the tax man.
Mean time, let a man build up a business with real assets that is worth a few million, and if he happens to drop dead, the Feds will demand nearly 50% of the estate from his children which will force them to sell the business just to pay the taxes.
Your average 'millionaire' can't play the trust game the way the mega rich can, yet it is those megga rich like Gates, Buffet and Kennedy who support the estate tax. They know it will never touch them or their kids.
That is pure hypocrisy.
"Er ah, young fella, we pay owah fayeh shayeh."
You don’t know that. You’re begging the question. Why do you hate rich people? I don’t know about Buffet, but Gates will probably spend his fortune trying to assuage is white liberal guilt though his charitable foundation.
What's tax evasion?
What the hell is your question? I explained to you why the tax code punishes many self made people while allowing the super wealthy to avoid those same taxes.
Why do you hate rich people?
I don't hate 'rich people". But I do hate hypocrites like Kennedy. As far as I am concerned, the estate tax (death tax) should be eliminated. The government has no right to that money.
I dont know about Buffet, but Gates will probably spend his fortune trying to assuage is white liberal guilt though his charitable foundation.
Oh BS. The 'charitable' foundation stuff is nothing but a smoke screen for a major tax dodge. Gates and Buffet are playing a game.
Take your class envy anger out on some else, buddy. Ciao.
Thanks, lil! Jason is the man.
Good ridance. It isn’t class envy and if you can’t address he poster’s questions just shut the hell up.
The poster never asked a question, but I’m surprised that progressive tax schems are defended on Free Republic. Or maybe I shouldn’t be since conservatives are few and far between here.
Why don't you take your lack of reading comprehension skills to some other forum, wise guy.
Or try reading up on the true hypocrites here before you pop off again.

Benefits Of The Estate Tax -- For The Super-Rich
Doohickey, if you believe Gates and Buffett set up these tax exempt foundations just because they are 'nice guys', I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I'll let you have cheep. They did it to avoid the estate tax in order to pass control of their business empires on to their children and grandchildren. That is an option the smaller business man whose assets may be in the millions but who's income and liquid wealth may be small, does not have. The little guy's kids often end up losing the factory or the farm while the Gates and Buffett offspring will control those businesses for generations to come.
The estate tax exists to keep the little guy little and assure none of their children will be buying a mansion next door to the Gates kids.

Now do you get it. He also did his FAIR TIME when he killed someone.
Your fair and his fair are two completely different things as it should be. I do not want to find myself equal to The Swimmer. No thanks! Keeping my head above water. :)
Yep. Paid his fair share? He still owes us 15 years to life for killing Mary Jo Kopechne.
