Complaint filed against Elton John/Hillary fundraiser
By Michelle Malkin April 14, 2008
Judicial Watch has filed a complaint with the FEC over that Elton John/Hillary fundraiser. Not that theres anyone actually at the FEC wholl do anything about it, what with the stalemate over FEC nominees rendering the office completely dysfunctional. Oh, well. Heres the press release:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) related to a fundraising concert by musician Sir Elton John on behalf of Hillary Clintons presidential campaign. Elton John, a foreign national, is prohibited by federal law, from making any contribution to a federal, state or local election campaign.
Recent news reports suggest that Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President have accepted an in-kind contribution from a foreign national, Sir Elton John, in contravention of federal electon laws, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton stated in an April 14 letter to the Office of the General Counsel for the FEC. On behalf of Judicial Watch and its supporters, I hereby request that the FEC investigate this matter.
According to a press release issued by the Clinton campaign, the expressed intent of the concert was to raise funds for Hillarys campaign for president. In the release, Elton John is quoted as saying, Im excited to support Hillary by performing at what will be a truly memorable night.
Press reports also show that Sir Elton John, on March 17, 2008, through the Clinton campaign, sent out a mass email announcing the concert and soliciting support. The Elton John concert took place on April 9, 2008 and raised more than $2.5 million (from the sale of 5,000 tickets) for Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President.
However, according to 2 U.S.C. § 441e, Contributions and donations by foreign nationals, it is illegal for any foreign national to make a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value in connection with a Federal, State or local election. The Washington Times reported March 27, 2008, that a 1981 FEC decision prohibited a foreign national artist from donating his services in connection with fundraising for a U.S. Senate campaign.
It looks as if Elton John, a foreign national, gave a valuable, in-kind contribution to Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, which is prohibited by law. The FEC and other authorities need to take appropriate action and investigate Hillary Clinton, her campaign, and Elton John, stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
All presidential campaigns have used all sorts of clandestine shenanigans to raise cash and what has the FEC done about it? Absolutely nothing! Why even bother having a watchdog that is asleep on the job?
pimg
It is only useful if said watchdog at one time or another acually ripped a burglar's throat out.
Otherwise, useless.
And .. this issue with the FEC is on purpose. The dems had control of confirming the appointments .. but they have sat on their hands because THIS FAVORS THEM.
Ask me why I hate these disgusting people ..??
One can always count on Judicial Watch to file a sure loser of a case. I suppose the guys mean well, but have they ever won anything?
The only way I would have faith in the FEC is if actually disqualified a candidate running for office because of proven illegal fundraising. We know that will never happen.
Which one is the hag?
By filing the case, even if it goes nowhere (which we know is highly likely) this will make it extremely dificult, if not impossible, to repeat such a show.
So, you’re saying the fat lady has sung as far as this sort of fund raiser is concerned? And would that be Elton or Hillary doing the singing?
Possibly, for this election cycle, yes.
Must be why they call it the big tent party.
I never understood why these entertainer events weren’t an in-kind donation.
For some reason this reminds me of the trailer for the documentary about Peter Paul and Hillary Clinton that I watched on here. Ah, Hillary always willing us to life with 90s nostalgia as Elton John makes 500 more millions by doing Candle In The Wind as a single in tribute to Hillary’s Presidency. I wonder what Bernie Taupin thinks of this.
Ah, Hillary always with the glitterati instead of Folk singers, Country/Western musicians or other blue collar Heartland Americans. The closest thing was your Country/Western twang(the same stupid stunt you used when you told your synchophants you went hunting) when you acted. That was marvelous enough acting on a script done by a Designing Woman that you got an oscar.
Perhaps Hillary, Elton John is playing a concert for you because it will help you bring Homosexual Marriage to every State, afterall it was Elton who got married to a man recently. Perhaps he is also confused about his sexuality(like when he first said that he was bi-sexual). Hell, Elton John did a Country album so you are close enough to the flamboyant sexually experimentative piano player who doesn’t write his own lyrics and isn’t even American.
I am sure that the Steel Workers in Pennsylvania love your campaign “outsourcing”.
Jeffrey Christie, the only thing separating Obama and Clinton’s out of touchitude is the fact that Obama slipped on his tongue first. Maybe they both need the Philosopher King treatment because right now they are Nicole Ritchie and Paris Hilton in The Simple Life which is so hot!
Somebody shoot me, please?
