Pelosi, fellow Dems rejecting the public's will on immigration
Lodi News-Sentinel ^ | April 5, 2008 | Joe Guzzardi

The November election in California's Congressional District 11, which includes Lodi, will be a hard-fought contest between incumbent Democrat Jerry McNerney and Republican challenger Dean Andal.

In 2006, McNerney unseated Richard Pombo, who suffered from allegations of fundraising improprieties, nepotism and the general electoral mood to throw out Republicans.

As voters head for the polls this fall, most are concerned with ending "business as usual" in Washington, D.C. With Congressional approval ratings hovering around 20 percent, many representatives are on their way out unless they can convince their constituents that they are serious about reform.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offers a striking example of how she's conducting America's business. Sadly, the term "as usual" applies. Pelosi is working against the people's will on the vital illegal immigration issue.

Last year, North Carolina Democrat Rep. Heath Shuler introduced H.R. 4088, the Secure America with Verification and Enforcement Act.

Money quote: "But in Washington, appearances are deceptive. While Jerry and I both publicly support this important legislation, Pelosi and the liberal Democrat leadership do not. By not signing the discharge petition, McNerney is refusing to back the same bill that he co-sponsored. It is Washington business as usual to abandon American national security and your constituents in favor of dogmatic party loyalty — and hope the people back hope won't find out about it."

The Democrat leadership doesn't get it. They think Americans are bunch of red-necked nativists who want to stick it to people with a different skin color. Their concerns about national sovereignty receive short shrift.

The Democrat leadership doesn’t get it.”

I disagree. I think they get it just fine. They are just trying to firmly attach another group of folks to the government teat. Of course, those teat-suckers will be willing voters(legally or illegally) for their dem enablers.

Of course the leadership doesn’t get - they haven’t had to run around looking for an open emergency room on a night or a weekend because the illegals using them as their personal health plan/physicians has closed most of them.

Like I’ve said before - Republicans all over the country should run against Pelosi and Reid - feature them prominently on your campaign literature.

How the democrats view American citizens, especially their own party members, is clear in the structuring of their presidential primaries. Because they balk at the idea of someone winning or losing, they have structured their primaries so that a winner gets ‘spit +’ and the loser gets ‘spit -,’ leaving both without a clear decision. But, wait! They have built in a remedy for that — the ‘super-delegates! Those are the party-appointed hacks who can override the will of the voters! lol. One might ask, why do they even hold primary elections? A good question. So far, the only answer seems to be, ‘it looks American.’ lol Hey, this is a get real moment! Do we really want those kinds of folks leading our country? The democrat party has already made a mess of itself. Isn’t that enough already?! lol

Simple Bill:

1) Shut down the boarders to illegals.

2) Arrest and deport ALL illegal aliens, everywhere in the borders of the U.S.

3) Heavily fine and or imprison employer that knowingly employ illegal aliens. The same would apply to property owners that knowingly rent to illegals.

4) Withhold all federal funds to declared sanctuary cities.

5) Spend the necessary money to establish court and detainee facilities for illegal aliens.

6) Shut down all educational and medical benefits for illegal aliens.

7) Establish a monetary reward fund for people that report these above mentioned violations to the government agencies.

8) Amend the constitution to state that children born of illegal alien parents in this country are NOT citizens of the U.S.

Problem solved. Now give me a group of 500 and some patriots, in Washington willing to do it.......FAT CHANCE!

Hell, give me a majority and a President with some cannon balls in their basket and I'll give you the solution. We the People know this, we just can't write the laws. Scumbag politicians write the laws. That's got to change!

“Will Shuler break with peeeelosi or will he continue to kiss her butt?”

Shuler has been given permission by Pelosi to run with this to make vulnerable dems able look (ahem) conservative during the election on the subject of immigration. Its obvious she didn't count on the discharge petition getting such traction. I just wish I knew which bright republican thought of it. Realistically this bill wont get a floor vote and if it does, it will be watered down, but this petition will highlight the hypocrisy of the dems that co-sponsored the bill yet wont sign the petition. Thats a lot of seats that the anti-illegal immigration movement can get come election time.

“With Pres. McVain it won’t be signed either.”

On the issue of immigration, Eisenhower was the last president(a half century ago dammit) to fare well in my opinion. Even Reagan was awful. We are rightly raising the bar because of the situation on the ground but I’d feel more comfortable if a republican won the vaulting contest with this current group of contenders.

Frankly, I don’t see the point in faulting the Dems on any aspect of illegal immigration when (our) the Republican’s nominee is the author of S2611.

“In 2007, the Senate tried several times to pass an amnesty bill. Americans rejected each effort.”

And they should have rejected it’s author....McCain.
