Latest from inside the TV Networks in NY and DC
Spent the weekend working the phones with many current and former TV Network friends and fiends. Even included some Radio types and pencil geeks (newspaper and magazine types.)
Also spoke with some R and C clients in DC.
Before we begin, please remember that many of these news folks are much more conservative in their personal beliefs than you would ever know from their on-air personas. On-air reports are filtered through and rewritten by editors (if you can get facts straight enough to report the news, you can always be an editor), desk writers (never been more than 75 miles away from the Empire State Building in their lives) and The Suits (all lawyers, or wish they were.)
No one can understand the complete foolishness of Republicans, (and often Conservative Republicans,) doing anything to help Hillary Clinton. Otherwise usually smart Republicans and Conservatives are making some classic RealPolitik mistakes.
1: In the real world, the Democrat primary is meaningless to Republicans and Conservatives except in ways it helps defeat Dems in the November General. Nobody governs out of the Primary.
2: Polls in this election are meaningless. Voters have begun to purposely lie to pollsters and those same pollsters are not taking into account the hidden needs and desires of the voters who will matter in November. For example, Obamas link with the America-hating Rev Wright gains him support among the America-hating far-left loonies who vote in the Dem primaries, but it scares the hell out of the swing voters who will decide the General on November.
3. All Hillarys negatives are all VERY old news. They will swing few votes. Obamas very strong negatives are still unknown to most Americans. Rezko and other issues can swing 2 to 7 % per issue!
4: Hillary with her victim-oriented campaign focused on minorities, labor, academics, gays and women can gain strength with these groups as November approaches. Obama scares away women, Hispanics, and labor in a general election. These are the swing voters ANY candidate NEEDS to win.
5: Its a two-for-one defeat for the Dems if Obama is the candidate, a one and one tie if Hillary is the candidate. RealPolitiks: Obama v. McCain; McCain wins 44 states. Obama goes down to a humiliating defeat, exceeded only by the humiliation of Hillary who couldnt even beat a 44-7 loser. He is toast; she is 65 in 2012 and a loser. If Hillary runs, she either wins (oh My God) or loses, with Obama primed as the True Truth in 2012.
6. The idiocy of Republicans even considering a Black candidate, Powell, Rice, etc. in order to try to get Black votes. Black voters to not elect Black Republicans for any reason. Black voters to not vote for Black candidates! They vote for the candidate who promises them the most free money! J.C. Watts never got more than 12% of the Black vote in his best years!
7. Everyone is amazed by Rushs (and Seans) Operation Chaos (the promotion of Hillary.) It has one purpose only; to keep ratings up, so Rush and Sean can make more money from their commercials. Thats fine, that what their radio shows are supposed to do. But lets stop waiting to solidify the foolish pinko Dems' choice of the worst candidate since McGovern. Stomp on Hillary today; begin defeating Obama in the General tomorrow! (When your enemy is trying to hang themselves; dont wrestle them for the rope!)
Its time to stop playing and stop trying to help the Dems select Hillary. Get Obama solidified, then put a stake through both their hearts in November . to the extent Hillary has any heart at all.
Its all about November... and America, PERIOD!

Apparently McCain, himself, is also rooting for Hillary.
Maybe he believes the strategy is working too.
slay the beast
>>>>The Democrats are doing a fine job of destroying themselves without our help.
The problem is, for “Summer Fun” yes they are.
For November, no they are not, far from it!
The Semi-finals don’t count.
Same old same old. This rant is getting old.
Amen!
Every election boils down to two choices. This time it’s McCain or The People’s Republic of Hillary?
Which do you want?
Disagree.
“”keeping ratings up is the only purpose” OF ANY BROADCASTING OUTLET!
I’m not sure that I agree that hillary is a more dangerous opponent than Obama. And I don’t think that Rush came out with this only for ratings. The idea was to draw out the process and get them fighting each other and throwing mud.
But I do agree that this is a very dangerous situation that is very hard to predict. Would it be better for obama or hillary to win the nomination? I don’t know, and I don’t see how anyone can be sure. Who would have thought that McManiac would win the Republican nomination a few months before he did?
When I went down to the primary polls in Vermont (kind of a useless exercise in this state, but we have to do what we can), the best I could decide to do was to write in Fred Thompson and vote on a few local issues.
I don’t write hillary off. I think Obama is even more dangerous than she is, but I think she will win the nomination, by hook or by crook.
Darn right she will. She's got the ruthless left over crowd from Bubba's campaign running hers now. They had Obama secretly taped because he was closing in on her in PA. Now she's got people from Michigan and Florida protesting outside the DNC headquarters. She's going in for the kill.
Agree, quoting the Duke of Wellington. “There’s always a time to cut cards with the devil.”
Well, it’s understandable that Rush is talking more about hillary and obama than he is about McCain. What can anyone say about McCain?
We see it in the forum. There are two people we can attack, and laugh about, and debate which is worse, and dig up facts about. All you can say about McCain is that he’s a loser and there’s nothing to be done about it.
But Rush could have tackled the hillary/obama duo in some different way and still kept his ratings up. I think voting for hillary is playing with fire, but I don’t know how anyone can be sure which of them is the more dangerous threat to our country.
I don’t think it’s ratings or political. It’s simply Rush in a pathetic and desperate attempt to prove his relevance. I believe Rush IS relevant, I believe he IS powerful to a degree — it’s just that his ego will not let him sleep at night if he’s not the most powerful being on Earth.
