ACTBLUE--a pac for getting around campaign contribution limits?
Newsmeat.com | 4/14/08 | Mamzelle

While nosing through the newsmeat search files of a mouthy rich liberal individual, I came across many heavy donations to "Actblue"--the old Soros-connected America Coming Together.

TOPICS: News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: actblue; campaignfinance; soros
When I pulled up the FEC file that newsmeat provides (Wow!) I read that this individual had "earmarked" $5000 for a primary campaign of a House candidate. Looking further on the donation history, the liberal had already donated the $2300 to the candidate's official campaign--all in the same month. A total of $7300 to a single primary candidate.

What does this "earmarking" mean? It doesn't look legal. Is it the responsibility of ACTBLUE to make sure donations comply with legal limits--?

Looks for all the world like contributions are being laundered through a PAC to skirt the $2300 limit.

Doesn’t matter if it’s legal or not, Democrats don’t have to obey laws.

See Al Gore and the Buddhist monks, see the Clintons and anyone Chinese, see Barack Obama and Tony Rezko...

Which candidate and which GOP opponent? This sounds like something which needs to be put in the hands of the GOP candidate (or GOP AG if there is one in that state) to look into.

I am not surprised that the Dems do what they do but what really pisses me off is this Adminstration (and the Repubs in general) don't have the balls to investigate nor prosecute this sort of crap when it's Dems involved.

N-i-c-e find.

THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELEVANT TO YOUR FIND, BUT IT'S WORTH A LOOK:

To comply with the FEC, candidates are apparently making up lists of phony donations using stolen identities.

The "donations" are actually funny money probably from bribes, kickbacks, and Congressional markups to phony non-profits that the pols are laundering into their campaign accounts.

In at least one published case---Hillary listed a donor who says she never gave her a dime.

For example: a Congressman marks up $3 million (added to the budget bill) that he lists as going to a do-good non-profit or a "foundation."

The N/P or foundation is usually run by a crony. The crony takes a cut, then deposits the rest in an offshore bank; the bank then wire transfers the money back into the pols campaign account.

Calpernia posted the idea that rampant identity theft could be part of campaign fraud.

Money is also transferred through paper front businesses too. A crony will make a business on paper, then services are over billed for. A few nickels are kept then nice donations are made.

In our state, the earmarks are called Christmas Tree funds. Merry Xmas.
