Hamas Cleric Predicts 'Rome Will Be Conquered by Islam'(No worries, Jimmy will save the day!)

A sermon last Friday by a prominent Muslim cleric and Hamas member of the Palestinian parliament openly declared that "the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital," would soon be conquered by Islam.

The fiery sermon, delivered by Yunis al-Astal and aired on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV, predicted that Rome would become "an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe."

"Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion," al-Astal preached, "so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security and consolidation of power, and even to conquests through da'wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world.

"Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our prophet Muhammad," he added.

Al-Astal last June preached how it was the duty of Palestinian women to martyr themselves by becoming homicide bombers.

I have to start by saying that "private revelations" are never required to be accepted de Fide, and therefore I am justified in taking a guarded or even a skeptical attitude toward these purported prophecies. Their provenance from a canonized saint does not mean that the prophecies are canonically approved; even Catherine of Siena received doctrinal messages in visions that turned out to be in error. So caution is fully justified.

Second, like many self-described prophecies, these are terrifying but vague. For instance, the prophecy does not explicitly state that Pope John Paul II would be exiled from Rome as the city is invaded by Prussia and Moscow, but the people who recorded this apply it to JP2 in their sub-headline and their interpretive notes. I expect they'll change that in the new edition?

The references to the Pope "Glory of the Olive" was interpreted by some in 2005 that the papal election would go to Cardinal Martini. (Heh.) But then again, who knows? --- and so forth.

Having said all that, the overall tone of the prophecy is disorder in the church and dark days to some. That's strikingly accurate, but would have been strikingly accurate in almost every generation for the past 20 centuries.

I have not much interest in Malarkey Malachi and Emmerick, God bless 'em. But Julian of Norwich, now. There was a good girl.

Prophesies in an of them selves are “unless you repent” this will happen. There were such prophesies at Fatima and Akita. Not the end of the world or the Church but a cleansing.

It also begs the question.... will prayer, repentance and fasting change God’s mind?

Considering that the Muslim birth rate is about 3 or 4 times the Christian birth rate, we cannot blame them for expecting to take over.

The Western Culture of Death is, well, death.

I agree, Rome won’t go down without a battle! Neither will those of us who follow her (The holy Roman Catholic Church)in her present form. We already know how it all ends, with Jesus Christ Victorious!!!

the ONLY moderate Moslem is a non-practising, non-devout one. The Koran ORDERS murder, slavery etc., so only someone ignoring the Koran can be “moderate” and in that case would not be a Moslem but a look-alike.

When will we wake up to this?

I am also a big fan of Julian Norwich, she was a great girl! It is interesting that Mel Gibson’s movie(The passion of the Christ) based on St. Emmericks visions, seemed to gain such prominence in our time. It seems to me God had a hand in that movie, He might also be bringing Emmericks visions to the fore front. I am not saying these visions are required for Catholics to believe in. Of Course not! I too am skeptical. However, it does seem very possible with the rantings of these Muslim Clerics, who claim they will invade Rome, and prophecy’s stating that it will happen. It bears some thought. These are not the only prophecy’s regarding the Muslims, many other saints were shown simile visions. I think at the time Pope John Paul II could of been the pontiff which the prophecy relates to, but you are correct it was just an interpretive opinion. I am not familiar with doctrinal messages that St. Cathrine of Siena had in visions that turned out to be in error, so I can not comment to that, but would like to know what they were. As far as St. Malachi, he had it right, he said the pope would be the glory of the olives, He came from a Benedictine order, and that is in fact their motto. He of course took on the name Pope Benedict as it turned out a perfect fit. In fact, people in Ireland who make bets on Inter-trade cleaned up because of the prophecy from Malachi.

"Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our prophet Muhammad," he added.

Yunis al-Astal is simply citing one of Muhammad's prophecies of the Signs of Qiyamah (Sings of the Last Days) from the Hadith, which every faithful Muslim believes.

Nafi' ibn 'Utbah said, "The Prophet said, 'You will attack Arabia, and Allah will enable you to conquer it. Then you will attack Persia, and Allah will enable you to conquer it. Then you will attack Rome, and Allah will enable you to conquer it. Then you will attack the Dajjal, and Allah will enable you to conquer him.' "
(Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Number 6930)

What the cleric is affirming is that these are the End Times, therefore their jihad is guaranteed success in conquering the world and killing or converting every infidel.

The problem is that they believe these "infallible prophecies" and will do everything they can to fulfill them. Meanwhile our leaders say that it's just a few disgruntled Muslims who don't like democracy.

Then you will attack the Dajjal, and Allah will enable you to conquer him.

BTW, that means all of us in Western Civilization.

I think that he thinks both were created by Satan. However, I would bet that he would prefer to see Islam destroyed.

After all, if the RC is destroyed, how can the anti-Christ be the Pope?

That being said, I'm pretty sure that Islam is a cult based on Christian heresies common in the Middle East during Mohammed's (MHRIH) time.

This is laughable. The Italian people - in spite of the fact they have become much less loyal as Catholics, per se - would fiercely fight back any kind of Islamic “invasion” or attempted conquest of the Vatican. Even those who don’t like the pope would say, “but he’s OUR pope!”

I suppose if Mohammed could be deluded into thinking he was visited by Gabriel, this jamoke could be deluded into thinking he could conquer the Catholic Church.

Not to mention the fact, even if the Pope had to flee the Vatican, the Church would still exist.
