Israel's secret service has declined to assist U.S. agents guarding former U.S. President Jimmy Carter during a visit in which Israeli leaders have shunned him, U.S. sources close to the matter said on Monday.
Carter angered the Israeli government with plans to meet Hamas's top leader, Khaled Meshaal, in Syria, and for describing Israeli policy in the occupied Palestinian territories as "a system of apartheid" in a 2006 book.

American sources close to the matter said the Shin Bet security service, which helps protect visiting dignitaries and is overseen by Olmert's office, declined to meet the head of Carter's Secret Service security detail or provide his team with assistance as is customary during such visits.

Good for Shin Bet!!! Finally, someone starts treating Dhimmi Jimmuh with the contempt he richly deserves! I feel like buying a case of pizzas for Shit Bet!
good for them. He is a disgrace and always has been.
You are of course correct. My comment was in the context of how the MSM would portray it....imagine the headlines. “Carter hurt because Israel pulled security” That’s how it woiuld read, f’sure..
He’s getting as bad as Jesse about sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong. Mad hare, indeed.
Why should Isreal care about his wellbeing when he obviously doesn’t care about their wellbeing.
I guess it would be too much to ask this supposed Christian
to bring up the plight of Christians in the PA controlled
areas. I wonder if the Secret Service agents wear “I’m with
Stupid” tee shirts!
“The people most likely to kill him are also the ones benefiting most from his attempts at meddling in the area. I think hes pretty safe as a result.”
Youre probably right unless you consider an angry Israeli who may decide to act out.
Some of us do.
No he doesn’t. He’s there to meet with terrorists. He deserves.... Never mind. I don’t want to get banned.
Why should Israel risk its security men and women for someone who doesn’t treat it with the least bit of respect?
So, what the latest on Jimmy Carter?

“Carter: Hamas, Syria must be involved in peace negotiations
Former US president stands by decision to meet with Hamas leader Mashaal. ‘My hope is that we can induce Palestinians to agree to ceasefire,’ he says”

Respect is earned.
I used to be foolish enough to think like you. But the breaking point was when Carter, supposedly once and always our ultimate Ambassador, accepted the highly politicized Nobel, soon after September the 11th.
If Carter were truly an American, he would have told them where to go. He had a real and tangible opportunity to garner a legacy and redeem himself, but he didn't. A tainted piece of bronze was more important. Therefore, I view him as having as equal worth.
Kudos to Israel.
Who said anything about respect? I didn’t.
One of Carter’s goals is to convince Hamas to release Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit who probably has been rotting away in some basement for the past two years. Shalit’s parents support Carter’s mission not because they like him but because they think Carter is so anti-Israel that Mashaal just might listen to him.
Jesse Jackson disgusts me but he got those US soldiers released after they were captured by Serb forces back in 1999. I don’t think more of him for doing it, I’m just glad that it happened.
It seems you’d rather see these brave servicemen rot in captivity rather than see Jimmy Carter or Jesse Jackson get credit for their release.
Hang in there kid! You’ll figure it out eventually.
You're obviously a DUng pile reject.
There, that didn't take long, did it?
This is diplomacy being played out before our eyes. This was a snub of royal proportions, a message sent directly to Carter. Had the Israeli’s done what you are suggesting the signals would have gone far beyond just this worthless peanut farmer.
I think the Israeli's are fully aware of the potential repercussions of an attack on Carter. What they say "officially" and how they behave behind the scenes are entirely different.
I would bet Carter's safety was fully assured.
I don't think even the President has the authority to do that. But I would offer as an alternative:
When he lands, escort him to the state department for "debriefing", while doing so, also take away his passport.
Then keep his passport.
well said.
How truly bizarre that the creator of this thread wants us to kneel and huzzah for Carter's and Jackson's works, when we know the rich history of their works.
