NEW YORK There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist."
Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday.
Another of her theories: The bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."

As does your comment about awards being crap. You're welcome to your opinion, of course.”
This is a political web site.
Go sing praise of her musical talents at a musical website, if that is your main concern.
If true, what does this say about the people that fell for this ploy?
It is all so clear now. The rap music is just a ploy to keep the brothas down, make em kill eachother, go on welfare, sell their food stamps to buy crack, steal stuff, and stay in jail. Rap is thus like the AIDS of music - a disease invented by the white devil to subjugate minorities! That’s why there ain’t no cure for rap - the racist kkkorporate music studios keep suppressing all new forms of non-ghetto trash noise.
Damn honkies!
LOL! Another one of those one sheet of toilet paper, paranoid Leftard “celebrities”. The Botox has obviously leaked into her brain.
Refrained from articulating goofy conspiracy theories.
I'm sorry, you misunderstood the intent of my comments.
Her politics are INDEED the topic of the thread, and many comments have been posted on that subject, disparaging her politics, with which I agree.
One unfortunate comment (pretty face and brain stem) went past her politics, and was a DEMONSTRABLY UNTRUE characterization. I responded to THAT FALSEHOOD, hoping to point out that despite her politics, she was not, in fact, stupid, but had achieved much in her life.
Funny thing is, I personally don't care that much for her music -- but as another musician, I honor her achievements in music nonetheless.
So let's disparage her politics here -- that's the topic. Just don't disparage musicians and that industry unnecessarily while you're at it. (We typically save that for the RIAA/MPAA hate threads...)
> Refrained from articulating goofy conspiracy theories.
LOL, good one.
But you must be an atypical FReeper. Most of us have our pet conspiracy theories, which we articulate here, and most of them are pretty goofy.
Except mine, of course. Mine are all true. ;-)
Maybe so, but she had a pretty good head start, so perhaps the leakage hasn't done as much damage. ;-)
See post #24. Politics aside, she's very accomplished.
But she should stick to music and stay out of politics.
“You know you’re evil—TWP—Typical White P,
I’ve got your number—TWP—Typical White P,
And I’m gonna bring your honky world dowwwnnnn,
(doo doo doo—eee!)”
-BH Obama to M Jackson’s “Pretty Young Thing.”
Mine Too!
Huh? What white guy had enough rhythm to come up with Hip-Hop?
Jerry Lewis?
Its the Democraps, don't you know?
I’m confused here. Is she claiming that the White Establishment invented Gangsta Rap? And is so, what is her proof here?
Musically speaking, I do wonder why "No One" sounds so much like "Don't Stop Believing". lol
Of course, I understand how things get into one's head and come out later. I wrote a song in 3 that seemed to just write itself (and is a typical progression I'd write). Later, I was thinking about it, and thought, "Please tell me that didn't come from Tom Waits" because I heard part of Curtis Stiger's cover of "San Diego Serenade" while in a Jack In The Box drive through. Thankfully, he doesn't own I/III(Maj)/VI and everything that followed was different as far as I can tell (though I haven't heard the whole song to verify).
