Why doesn't France use it's NATO troops against pirates, that should clear up any problem in less than a week.

The French did use troops against the pirates this week. They caught six of them and got back most of the money paid as ransom as the pirates landed.

I think that the next step would be to shell the villages where the pirates sail from.
