"I'm not going to comment on former President Carter. He's a private citizen. Don Imus is a private citizen too. But Obama felt free to not only comment on him, but call for him to be fired.

Thank you for the clear example of catching Obama in a LIE. While both “may” be private citizens now, it is NOT the reason for Obama’s refusal to comment.
