Munich, Moscow, and now Beijing

He is right, they have been out there taking live fire before..
At the same time, Rogge called on China to respect its "moral engagement" to improve human rights and to fulfill promises of greater media freedom. He also reaffirmed the right of free speech for athletes at the Beijing Games.

I’m shocked Rogge could find the time to comment on this inbetween spending all the bribe money Putin gave him to get the 2014 winter olympics located in a small russian farm town thats sewer explodes on a regular basis.
I’m sure Putin promised the IOC the same things China did. Bwhahahahaha!!! The IOC, the only organization that can compete with the UN when it comes to fraud and corruption.
The Olympic torch was scheduled to go through that town but they told the city they would have to withdraw that resolution before they would do so. I wish they had told them where to stick that torch but instead they capitulated to the radicals.
Ever since the Olymnpics banned South Africa while still allowing every single brutal dictatorship, I haven't kept up with the Olympics at all.
Why?
1. Political/Government “sponsorship” and life long “training” from childhood to produce “national treasures” to compete.
2. Drugs, Blood Doping, steroids and ?????? techniques yet undiscovered.
3. Sending Adult PROFESSIONAL athletes to compete against THEIR PROFESSIONAL athletes.
4. Synchronized swimming?
5. Cities using the event as a means to rebuild their professional sports venues.
6. Olympic Committee “Officials” caught taking bribes to favor one city over another..
7. Etc, etc, etc......
It's a hell of a lot more fun, more accessible, cheaper and more honest competition of Amateurs to go to your local middle or high school and watch THOSE games...
The whole concept of the Olympic games as a spectacle of amateur sports was really a silly relic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The rules requiring athletes to compete as amateurs were really aimed at limiting the participation in these events to wealthy people (the "idle rich") who had the time and money to train for competition while all the "regular people" were working for a living.
Correction: I agree with everything you posted EXCEPT the “amateur” part.
You can add local American Legion & firehouse ball games to that, too.
I can’t boycott the Olympics over Tibet as I was already doing such due to China poisoning our food, our kid’s toys, and our pets. Did people forget about those?
If they can’t take this, they shouldn’t have sited the Olympics in a hellhole.
My "long time ago" -- reaches all the way back to about A.D. 383 -- the end of the original Olympics, which were open to all free Greek speaking men could participate...
It really is a shame that such a great culture of the world had to become a oppressive Marxist dictatorship. A just China could hold an Olympics which would be spectacular. But alas they are obsessed with keeping the peaceful Tibetans in chains.
As well as their own people.
