Dark-skinned people were those who rebelled against God. From the Book of Mormon:

And according to the Nation of Islam, white people are “white devils”, we are a science experiment in Africa gone wrong. We are tainted by a different “original sin” and will always be scorned by the Nation of Islam’s black supremacists.
