Judge Declares Mistrial in Fraud Case of Celebrity Pathologist Cyril Wecht

PITTSBURGH — A federal judge declared a mistrial Tuesday in the fraud case against celebrity pathologist Cyril Wecht, who was accused of using his staff at the county coroner's office to do work for his lucrative private practice.

Federal prosecutors said they were ready to retry Wecht, who gained fame by inquiring into the deaths of well-known figures including Elvis Presley, JonBenet Ramsey and Vincent Foster. A new trial date was set for May 27.

Another black mark on the already sorry record of the Bush Justice Department.

Why are Republicans around the country not demanding the resignation of prosecutor Mary Beth Buchanan? Compared with her, Mike Wilfong was a saint. Mary Beth made a multigazillion dollar fiasco out of a pseudoscandal that would have been laughed out of small claims court.

If the Bush Justice Dept. Criminal Division doesn't put a stop to this one, the President and Atty Genl ought to resign immediately.

the first 24 counts of the indictment dealt with faxes it cost the county $3.96 to send

Geez, the feds are after me, too! They just don't know it yet.

Cyril Wecht.

He’s the coroner that the elite call in when there is something to hide.

[The charges include] using county employees to campaign for him and handle his private lab work.

The indictment also accuses Wecht of trading unclaimed bodies stored by the county coroners office, which he headed, to a Pittsburgh university in exchange for use of a laboratory there for his private practice....

[it] accuses him of using county employees to run private errands and do work for his private practice between 1996 and December 2005....

[they include] mail fraud, wire fraud, theft of honest services and theft from the county coroner’s office.

So according to you MurryMom

Mary Beth Buchanan who is prosecuting someone who broke the law, although its laws you don’t think are worthy of prosecuting is the moral equivalent. To Mike Nifong who tried to prosecute people whose only crime was being white during a election cycle when Nifong needed the black vote.

Gee MurryMom I would have thought even you can’t be that stupid, but hey I’ve been wrong before.

Wilfong?

Making up your own facts. Such a leftist trait.

Politicians are corrupt. Who knew?

Democrats that stoop to buying votes aren’t far behind. Democrats are 9 times more likely to be arrested for voter fraud than Republicans.

Republicans for the most part police their members and ostracize those that break the law. Democrats on the other hand give seminars, distribute training videos and hand out golden globe awards to the most creative and effective lawbreakers and boy buggerers.
