Thanks Nucl. I had thought that there had been some fairly important breakthroughs along the pebbles line, and it had been my understanding that the industry was headed in that direction.

I’m just a layman, so I am only addressing what I’ve read here over time.

It is interesting, I also thought there was much progress in the pebble bed design. About 18 months the company I work for pulled out of the project. No real info why. As far I know we will be acquiring a BWR of some type when we purchase our next nuke plant. South Texas Project plans on constructing two ABWRs in the near future. I have seen nothing about the pebble bed design for some time. And know of no one with plans to build even an experimental unit. Not that I know too much about anything.
