"At the mere mention of doing the pledge there were groans and boos. Then, when the district chair put the idea of doing the Pledge of Allegiance up to a vote, it was overwhelmingly voted down. One might more accurately say the idea of pledging allegiance to the flag (of which there was only one in the room, by the way, on some delegate’s hat) was shouted down."

I saw a better Lenin statue when I traveled to the Perm and Komi-Perm regions a few years ago.
Publically displayed Lenin statues are actually quite hard to find in the Russian Republic these days, but this one was in a small public park in the city of Kyudimkar. And based on the many photos of the man I have seen, it’s actually a much better likeness than the monstrosity in Seattle.
