Oprah is promoting this new age religious gobbledygook and having pseudo-services on her show. What a sad statement on the religious and spiritual poverty of this country.
Breathe out breathe in then open your eyes and wow! You did it, you're God now.

“they disagreed about something and she found this new age movement guru.”
This is the gospel according to caseinpoint: I think a lot of wealthy people who disagree with their church or pastor do so on the basis of the Ten Commandments, those pesky personal behavior like keeping the Sabbath Day holy, honoring thy parents, avoiding coveting. I believe they also tend to stumble on matters like sexual morality, marital fidelity, not to mention tithing. When people feel they don’t need God in their lives anymore, they tend to see His commandments as killjoys in their lives. They tend to like religions that discount personal behavior in favor of right feelings or right causes.

God has the right to be jealous because of who He is. If he didn’t know absolutely what is best for us He would not qualify to be jealous. You are right - His jealousy is to protect us from the love of the world. (Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life.)
Those that are proud cannot understand a jealous God.
Those that are without faith cannot understand a jealous God.
He is jealous in the way that a lover pines for an unfaithful spouse.

Oh my, I have paraphrased too extensively it would appear. But then, Jesus did the something similar by condensing the Torah and Tanach into two commandments.

I’m not a God. But, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Oprah said she “took god ‘out of the box’ because I grew up in the Baptist church because there were, you know, rules and you know, belief systems and doctrine.” She had to get up early and get to church by 8am or you couldn't get seat! (Whah!) And then heard (for the first time? C’mon!) at 27 or 28 years old that God gets jealous. “jealous of me?” Oprah pompously asks. The goes on to quote a passage (one of her favorates) of the book. “Man made God in his own image...”

I don't think the situation in Duet. in which they brought God's anger and jealousy upon themselves is the kind of jealous Oprah meant. Among other things, she thinks God is jealous of her wealth, which isn't so, God has no problem with people achieving fame and fortune. It's what one does to get it that is a concern, and how one uses it.
Oprah runs into troubles when she thinks she's "doing good". She can't be humble about it, instead she does it to glorify herself, not God's word.

“Was it nice?”
Pretty much. But I’m allergic to mint and had to ask for new pillows.

SHE didn’t give anyone a car. The manufacturer provided all the cars. All Oprah did was hand out the keys.
But she sure didn’t correct the mistaken impression that she had made such a generous gesture.

You know - I forgot that! You are so right! That makes her an even more evil “ego ‘ho”’.

The mint on the pillow or the pillows smelled like mint?

""You may be quite sure that in the last days there are going to be some difficult times. People will be self-centered and grasping; boastful, arrogant and rude; disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreligious; heartless and unappeasable; they will be slanderers, profligates, savages and enemies of everything that is good; they will be treacherous and reckless and demented by pride, preferring their own pleasure to God.""They will keep up the outward appearance of religion but will have rejected the inner power of it."
"Have nothing to do with people like that. You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were, and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures -- from these you can learn the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."
"All scripture is inspired by God and can profitably be used for teaching, for refuting error, for guiding people's lives and teaching them to be holy." (2 Tim.3:1-17).
How true today.

Oh C’mon now. Are you complaining that she should have paid for the tax as well? People got new $28k cars! If money was an issue (no cash to buy a car) they could have sold the car. Let's not demand Oprah or the rich for handouts BECAUSE they're rich.

They use a mint and glue based spray as a air suppressant in the laundry chutes. The result is mint contamination in the maids closets.

I will never forget her giving everybody in her audience a car - and then they all found out they had to pay thousands of dollars in taxes, to keep them. Most couldnt.I have no respect for Oprah, but yours is not a good example. People who complained about being given a car were ingrates. If they couldn't afford the taxes, there was no reason they couldn't sell the cars, pay the taxes and make a tidy profit. Oprah's not responsible for their income taxes.
