Jonah Goldberg comments on the Russian Duma's defense of the mass starvation of Russian farmers in the Ukraine in 1932-33. They deny claims of genocide by saying that the millions who died were of all ethnic classes.
"There is no historical proof that the famine was organized along ethnic lines. Its victims were million of citizens of the Soviet Union, representing different peoples and nationalities living largely in agricultural areas of the country," the Russian State Duma resolution said.

Under the UN’s definition of genocide, this does not qualify. Kulaks were not a people. This was state-organized mass murder. Liberals have killed millions in Africa by banning DDT.

Attacking people for their class is a bad as attacking them for their race; the Left has made a living out of it.
Mass death is the whole and entire purpose of socialism.
Whether the victims are chosen by genotype, social status, or eye-glass wearing; in the end it doesn’t matter.
Finally, it’s just death for the sake of killing, whether by gunshots, starvation, or poisoned koolaid.

Typical liberal semantics distraction... quibble about the titles and names while ignoring the issues. That’s the same thing they do with immigration (”You can’t call them illegal!!”), WMDs (”Saddam’s older chemical weapons don’t count!”), race relations (”Blacks can’t be called racists!”), social program budgets (”A reduced increase is a decrease!”), etc.
Not all mass murders need a special name, nor does a special name make murder more or less palatable.

My question is this: why, then, are most American parents just dropping their kids off at government indoctrination centers that teach them to be socialists. Then, to add insult to injury, they go into debt to send these kids to college for more socialistic training. To be indentured servants for the rest of their lives?

I guess when this article talks about "history", it's the rewritten variety. Mass murder is mass murder.
Oh, I just skimmed the Gulag Archipelago -- did you note that it's full of petty bureacrats, getting over on the poor souls they send to "reeducations camps" (i.e., forced labor camps), or to be executed or raped or whatever, because the poor fool wouldn't bend to their personal, petty wishes? Yet, the torturers and cruel bureaucrats all talk in "bureacrat-ese", where, on the record, it sounds all righteous.
E.g., Bureaucrat: "Since you have failed to demonstrate your complete fealty to the government, we will have to provide re-education and rehabilitation from your state of rebellion and treason."
Translation: "You wouldn't move in with me, and so I'm sending to be continually gang-raped as the camp guards' sex slave." It's that ridiculous.
