Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.
The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.
The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriffs deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.
The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the states Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.
Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.
In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst, Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.
Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.
Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriffs deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.
There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship, Palmer said Saturday afternoon. If an agreement cannot be reached law enforcement will have to as gently and peaceably as possible make entry into that place.
Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.
Palmer said she didnt know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.
The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.
Anytime someone says, Dont look here, she said, it makes you concerned thats exactly where you need to look.
The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.
The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriffs deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compounds residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.
Things have been a little tense, a little volatile, she said.
Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.
No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.
Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.
Theyre in the process of looking, she said. Theyre literally about halfway through.
Jesus Christ is God of the universe. Some are granted to know this sooner rather than later; sometimes not until the next life.

Well, if you can give me book, chapter and verse, how about a reference, anything?

Before you preach to McCoMo to remove the log from his eye, perhaps you should consider removing the Redwood trunk from your own eyes. (Might help your visibility for the most important "tree" of all--the cross--which is nowhere to be found on Mormon facilities anywhere and which is regarded by LDS teachers as a pagan symbol & played down by LDS teachers even in the atonement...where they tend to turn the focus NOT on the blood shed on Calvary BUT RATHER the sweated bloodshed in the Garden of Gethsemane...)
Hi Seven,
Jesus isn’t a descendant of plural marriage. That is a silly
statement, since it never occurs. It is a physical impossibility, at least until genetic manipulation starts
full swing.
Moreover, it is a falsehood about Jesus’ person. As I said,
heresy.
ampu
Jesus is a descendant of plural marriage as most here on FR in the ancient of day!
Absolute false, blatant heresy!
That was not your reply/question ampu!
I said prove me wrong!
He was not born as a result of a plural marriage, as Resty falsely claimed.
He was born in an intact marriage and Joseph had one wife, Mary.
ampu you did not answer that question of PM?
Was Jesus not a descendant of David and Solomon?
That is NOT what she claimed. She merely pointed out the fact that Jesus was descended from people who engaged in plural marriage.
Sometimes resty is right. Not very often. But when she is right, she is entitled to credit for that.
That is so far fetched, its not going to go down that way. The Judge in no way will exclude people from the jury simply because they are Baptist.
The religion of all involved won't be a factor in who the jury is.
lol
Was Jesus not a descendant of David and Solomon?
Clearly, you do not understand that their is no child
ever born who is a descendant of a plural marriage.
Doesn’t work that way. Perhaps a Bishop can explain
privately.
So the question is irrelevant to the issue.
... Resty said Jesus was a descendant of plural marriage.
He was not.
If she meant what you claim, she would have said Jesus had
ancestors who practiced polygamy.
There is a world of difference.
Come on ampu answer P-Marlowe question!
Was Jesus not a descendant of David and Solomon?
Yes or No?
Absolutely! Call me crazy, but I still think even at 16 years old... it is still rape... especially when the hubby is 50... I cannot believe this is happening in United States...
Yes.
A 14 yo ignorant farmboy boy was deceived by the two Satanic messengers and the rest is history - as well as breaking news!
Resty,
You are now embarrassing yourself.
OK, you should really talk to a Bishop
for more details about how this happens,
but I’ll help...
A woman carries eggs. Generally, but not
always, they are released one at a time
each month. This is an integral part of
her “period”.
To have a baby, she must have this egg
fertilized by sperm. Men are makers and
carriers of this substance.
Once an egg comes together with a single
sperm (for explanation, please see Bishop),
the egg becomes fertile and a human life is
formed.
To summarize: a human being can only descend
from one egg source (female) and one sperm
source (male). A human cannot descend from
“plural marriage”, as you wrongly claimed.
A human can have ancestors who practiced plural
marriage, which you did not claim.
There is a great difference between the two
statements.
No doubt I have fallen short on the details of
how this process works. I hope there is a trusted
source that can go more in depth to explain the
parts I left out.
best,
ampu

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the otherThis is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, Never mind, all is wellI am well enough off. I then said to my mother, I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.
Come on Resty; answer ELSIE question!
Dude, are you blind?
Not to be mean but the clothes the FLDS people wear are hideous. Yes I know they are 'homemade'. I would love to take a few of those women and girls and buy them some nice clothes!
1890: Manifesto (a statement denouncing polygamy)
"Inasmuch as laws have been enacted by Congress forbidding plural marriage...I hereby declare my intention to submit to those laws..."~ Wilford Woodruff, 4th LDS President
To Whom It May Concern:
Press dispatches having been sent for political purposes, from Salt Lake City, which have been widely published, to the effect that the Utah Commission, in their recent report to the Secretary of the Interior, allege that plural marriages are still being solemnized and that forty or more such marriages have been contracted in Utah since last June or during the past year, also that in public discourses the leaders of the Church have taught, encouraged and urged the continuance of the practice of polygamy
I, therefore, as President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, do hereby, in the most solemn manner, declare that these charges are false. We are not teaching polygamy or plural marriage, nor permitting any person to enter into its practice, and I deny that either forty or any other number of plural marriages have during that period been solemnized in our Temples or in any other place in the Territory.
One case has been reported, in which the parties allege that the marriage was performed in the Endowment House, in Salt Lake City, in the Spring of 1889, but I have not been able to learn who performed the ceremony; whatever was done in this matter was without my knowledge. In consequence of this alleged occurrence the Endowment House was, by my instructions, taken down without delay.
Inasmuch as laws have been enacted by Congress forbidding plural marriages, which laws have been pronounced constitutional by the court of last resort, I hereby declare my intention to submit to those laws, and to use my influence with the members of the Church over which I preside to have them do likewise.
There is nothing in my teachings to the Church or in those of my associates, during the time specified, which can be reasonably construed to inculcate or encourage polygamy; and when any Elder of the Church has used language which appeared to convey any such teaching, he has been promptly reproved. And I now publicly declare that my advice to the Latter-day Saints is to refrain from contracting any marriage forbidden by the law of the land.
WILFORD WOODRUFF
President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
President Lorenzo Snow offered the following:
I move that, recognizing Wilford Woodruff as the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the only man on the earth at the present time who holds the keys of the sealing ordinances, we consider him fully authorized by virtue of his position to issue the Manifesto which has been read in our hearing, and which is dated September 24th, 1890, and that as a Church in General Conference assembled, we accept his declaration concerning plural marriages as authoritative and binding.
The vote to sustain the foregoing motion was unanimous.
Salt Lake City, Utah, October 6, 1890.
Hebrews 11:35-40
35. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. 36. Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. 37. They were stoned ; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated-- 38. the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground. |
