Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.
The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.
The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriff’s deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.
The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the state’s Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.
Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.
“In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst,” Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have “medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.”
Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.
Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.
“There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship,” Palmer said Saturday afternoon. “If an agreement cannot be reached … law enforcement will have to — as gently and peaceably as possible — make entry into that place.”
Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.
Palmer said she didn’t know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.
The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.
“Anytime someone says, ‘Don’t look here,’” she said, “it makes you concerned that’s exactly where you need to look.”
The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.
The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriff’s deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compound’s residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.
“Things have been a little tense, a little volatile,” she said.
Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.
No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.
Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.
“They’re in the process of looking,” she said. “They’re literally about halfway through.”

CPS moves to take legal custody of 401 children removed from YFZ Ranch. 133 adult women, 18 & over, have left ranch voluntarily. Most if not all are mothers of children taken. Men from compound will not be allowed to see the children currently being held at Fort Concho in San Angelo, Texas.
Authorities report one man arrested at YFZ Ranch for interfering with the duties of a police officer.
Please don't try to be deceitful about the LDS church history with polygamy. It's a history that most of the world is getting very tired of being distorted by some LDS people who frankly haven't studied up on it. I'll make a few points: (1) Polygamy is still LDS doctrine and has never been removed from the Doctrine and Covenants. See http://scriptures.lds.org/dc/132/37#37 for details. (2) There was plenty of approved incestual-type relationships and old men marrying young girls in LDS church polygamy. My great-great-great grandfather was a Bishop and high public official in his 40s when he married a 15-year-old. Another great-great-great grandfather of mine was a leader in the Willy and Martin Handcart company who later married his stepdaughters when they were 17 and 15 after he raised them for 10 years with his 2nd wife, their mother. Several of the General Authorities married young teenagers when they were in their 50s, 60s, 70s, etc; (3) The church has a history of being deceitful on their practicing of polygamy .... look at all the approved polygamous marriages AFTER 1890 including for Henry B. Eyring's paternal grandparents; and look at the Section in the Doctrine and Covenants that forbade polygamy and was used by missionaries in Europe to disavow polygamy while it was being actively practiced in Nauvoo and then Utah. How can we be sure that the LDS leadership is being honest with the world today? When have they really repented and come clean on their polygamy history? We have polygamy today in America primarily because of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. That's a fact that can't be erased or glossed over.
Full disclosure: I'm a LDS High Priest myself as I've served in a Bishopric, graduated from BYU in Provo, Utah and I'm a RM. But I've never practiced polygamy though I have many relatives who have and who were stalwart members of the LDS church their entire lives, especially because they obeyed the commandments of their LDS leaders to enter into plural marriage.

So, along these lines, I have some additional Q for Sevenbak:
Does the apostle John submit to a temple recommend periodic questioning to see if he is still temple worthy?
Did the apostle John embrace polygamy during the 19th century?
Do you think the apostle John had heartburn when Brigham Young started teaching that Adam was God & the Savior's atonement wasn't enough for some men--that blood atonement was needed?
Wouldn't the apostle John be THE absolute best source of new geneological family tree data (as we're all sure he's been collecting names for 2,000 years!) Have all the names he's collected been baptized yet? Where? (Wouldn't it at least deserve a blurb in Ensign magazine or a commercial at the April or October General Conference as an inspiration to the millions collecting geneology info?)
Why did the Mormon apostle John dry up as a source of divine revelation? Does he have spiritual alzheimers' disease? Does this converted Mormon "Seer" no longer "See?"
Is it true that the apostle John is locked up in some vault below Temple Square? (Is it true that since the last 2 LDS "prophets" weren't sure if the character they have in the vault is either the genuine apostle or a Mark Hoffman forgery, Salt Lake City HQ keeps waiting for a "prophet" who can once-and-for-all discern the difference & make a pronouncement either way?)
How about the Three Nephites who never died? Are they currently members of the LDS Church? Did they have the Aaronic Priesthood? If not, did they get it from some LDS Members recently? Did they have the Melchezedek Priesthood? If not, why not?
Couldn't these living Nephites be put to work to produce a map section for the Book of Mormon? Many Bible versions have maps. (The Book of Mormon never has.)
Since God has usually chosen to work thru people, why couldn't the Mormon god simply have deposited the gold plates with these Nephites rather than some ground? And wouldn't it have been better for the folks living in the dark ages to have received "another testament of Jesus Christ" from these Nephites rather than waiting up to a thousand years?
Could not the Mormon god had raised up a "seer" and "translator" during the Dark Ages to "translate" the plates into the same King James English (prior to the advent of King James English?)
And the same geneological question applicable to the apostle John is also true of the Nephite disciples: Don't these disciples have an ethical obligation to disclose the names of the people they've known for over 2,000 years? If they fail to disclose this information, are they not then guilty of failing to fulfill what Joseph Fielding Smith said about the Mormon people--that they were to be the only living "saviors" thru the practice of baptizing dead people?
Would the Mormon church consider conducting a worldwide "Come out, come out wherever you are marketing & hospitality campaign" for these four "lost" folks?

Like I said I'm not in to debating other theologies but I do believe that everyone should reference what they read or hear, from anyone, (including their minister), to make sure it is supported by scripture in their Bible. (I prefer King James). I encourage all of you to do the same. Be safe.

I'm enjoying watching the cognitive dissonance of the mormons here whose creed states "We believe in the Bible as far as it is correctly translated, cite the Bible to defend the theory that Jesus was the descendant of polygamists, while they vehemently deny that Joseph Smith had ANY children with any of his 33+ polygamous wives.
By the same token, it's interesting that they deny the LDS practice polygamy, and here they are on all the polygamy threads defending it. The more they defend it, the more folks are reminded of their own polygamous history. If I were still mormon, I'd stay far away from polygamy in any form. It's entertaining, to say the least.

In order to have a Glorified eternal body of Flesh and Bone to resurrect in, you would have had to have a physical body of flesh and blood that had gone through the probationer period.
Why would the Son need to get one if His Heavenly Father did not also have one?
