Gang-member violence climbing in courts
Daily News ^ | April 4, 2008 | Troy Anderson

Even as Los Angeles County's sprawling court system seeks to mete out justice, security is becoming a growing concern as the number of threats against its 600 judges, commissioners and referees has more than doubled in the past two years.

Threats against court personnel surged from 99 in 2006 to 267 last year, according to court records. And as violence and threats have risen, security costs have soared from $132 million three years ago to $169 million.

In recent years, a court commissioner and his wife were gunned down at their home, a judge's child was threatened at school, an attorney was shot repeatedly outside the Van Nuys Courthouse, and a judge's wife was kidnapped and killed.

"It's rare when a week goes by and I don't get some kind of call from the sheriff about a threat or something else involving our courts," Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge J. Stephen Czuleger said.

"We've had many cases in which a witness has been threatened or the local public defender says they have a gang member who is very upset and is going to take action against a witness, a lawyer or the judge."

In some threat cases, the sheriff's Judicial Services Unit is assigned to provide around- the-clock security for judges and their families.

The threats have resulted in arrests of about five to 10 people each year. snip

Funny. And all this time we were led to believe that these sorts of things only occurred in the banana republics of Latin America and Africa.

Even if the government is able to secure the safety of people who work for the justice system, this kind of mayhem won't end until the border is finally secured.

I wonder if this will start to affect the position of so many of our courts on the death penalty?

The banana republics are coming to us thanks to corrupt politicians in both parties who want modern day slaves to do the work Americans won't do.

We can dream. But so many liberals who are slaughtered in such acts of violence die knowing they "thought the right thing."

I filed a police report against gang bangers once. I found out why nobody wants to get involved. Even if they arrest the gang banger there is always the possibility that his friends will pay a visit. You put your family in jeopardy. It is much easier to move to a safer city.

Here comes the political push for ridding America of the bad ole gun! Just in time for the Supreme Court who is currently deciding the second amendment issue!

If law enforcement would get off their asses and send the gang members (illegals) back to their Country of origin, there would not be any gang violence! Instead, law enforcement will use this opportunity to disarm all Americans!

Here’s a hint:

That’s how the gangs in Mexico handle uncooperative authorities.

The police should just shoot them on sight and leave their bodies for the buzzards. That would clearly eliminate this problem.

I find this deliciously ironic as the judiciary has been at the forefront, for the last 70 years, in the favoring of our societies criminal element.

How long will it take for the gang violence in California to change people’s opinion on concealed carry laws?

While on the other side of the country, a former plumbing inspector [Image 17 of 20] was sentenced to probation and 200 hours of community service for filing a proposal for a renovation permit on his home more than a year after the work was completed.

The serendipitous joys of both open borders and communism!
