"Sometimes I say to myself, 'Can I really do this?,'" Tancredo said of supporting McCain.

Could the drama queen tancredo please can the Hamlet impression.

Tancredo is right. I hope all conservatives who rightfully despise McCain will follow him and support McCain, if not for him, at least against the Democommunist Party.

Mr. Tancredo you do have another alternative. Run as an Independent and give us a choice too.

The silencing of all GOP opposition to McCain’s liberal policies is almost complete.

It's never pragmatic to sacrifice conservative principles. As we have seen and are seeing that false premise only begets increasing and incremental socialism with the irony being socialists never sacrificing their principles.

“Tancredo reluctantly backs McCain”

Well after all is said and done, Tom is just a Republican after all. Disappointing.

Screw pragmatic. I am tired of that word and the people that ho themselves.

Just disgusting. Thats why we are in this mess with an open borders, free speech screwing, Juan Hernandez hiring freaking old man RINO as a candidate.

Quit bringing up Reagan. McCain ain’t no Reagan and never will be.

Geesh.

Very rarely, very rarely.

The road to hell is paved with the stones of pragmatism.

A lot of the “suicide pact” Republicans who’ve vowed that they’d no sooner vote for McCain than Obama or Hillary ought to follow Tancredo’s lead.

said he’ll go ahead and back his longtime immigration-reform foe, McCain, because he thinks either of the Democratic alternatives would be worse.

He thinks......... I believe it is evident that either would be worse. But at least Tancredo realizes that you have to go with what you have not what you wish you had. The key is to try for as many down ticket wins as possible to help build support in order to help hold the line on McCain when he gets too far out in left field.

Pragmatists are by definition valueless people!!!

Pragmatism, like constant moderation is no virtue and constant capitulation to lesser things for our country is a vice!!!

From the article (which most of you didn't even bother to read) we now have solid proof that Rep. Tom Tancredo is not the "one-issue" candidate he was made out to be early on:
. . the Rocky Mountain News this week asked Tancredo if he might back a possible Libertarian Party entrant, former Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia, whose voting record on immigration issues is similar to Tancredo's.

Despite Barr's immigration stands, Tancredo said he could not support him because of his foreign policy stands, including "a blind spot on radical Islam." He added that he believes Barr's candidacy is a serious threat to Republican chances in November, because it could siphon off conservative voters who are skeptical of McCain.

He's a two-issue ex-candidate!

The problem is that the GOP and McCain have assumed all along that disgruntled conservatives will come around to support McCain in the general election. I would certainly rather see him win than Obama or Hillary, but count on others to push him across the finish line.

I NEVER gave Tancredo much respect. Why should I? All he did was take a position HELD by MOST Americans on the issue of ILLEGAL immigration. His stand on ILLEGAL immigration was both POPULIST and CONSERVATIVE. The treachereous IDIOTS who run both the Democrat and Republican Party take the same opposing treacherous view. In the end we know Tancredo was NO leader, just a TYPICAL political WHORE which populates both corrupt political parties. He talked some talk, but did not walk the walk, he likes his GUBMINT job, and will kiss any ring to keep it.

Good, since Tommy T is a known member of the GOP, makes sense to me he’s going Juan.

All these people staying home to “punish” the Republican party are only going to help the other - they can vote, not vote, crossover, writein whoever. they’ll be held just as accountable for that choice, too.

I have seen people who trade away their principles, one by one, hoping to get something practical in return.

It's ALWAYS a bargain with the devil and he ALWAYS wins.

What you people should ask yourselves is: "If I am always giving ground on principle, settling for a fraction of a loaf conceded by my enemy, how long will it be before I have no bread at all?"

It's a game you will never win.

You cannot keep conceding ground to the enemy because he will never be satisfied.

You have to hold the hill at all cost or lose every principle you've ever held dear.

I won't vote for McCain.

Period.

Tancredo, who once told a national television audience he was "sick and tired" of having to choose between the lesser of two evils....

We're all sick of it. But in a two-party system it'll always be that way. Always.
