Last August, I ran into Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, outside the Senate chamber in the Capitol.
This was before the Obama surge, before he had omnipresent Secret Service agents...
Frankly, he reeked of cigarettes.
Obama ran off before I could ask him if he'd just snuck a smoke, so I called his campaign.
They denied it. He'd quit months before, in February, they insisted.
They reported back that he had told them he hadn't had a cigarette since he quit.
Except….last night on MSNBC's Hardball, Obama admitted that his attempt to wean himself from the vile tobacco weed had not been entirely successful.
It's not a big deal in the scheme of things -- the war on Iraq, a major economic crisis -- indeed, it's miniscule. Hardly worth mentioning.
Except that I don't like feeling that I wasn't being dealt with honestly.
And as much as citizens who are suspect of the media might scoff at such a notion, many of us consider ourselves to be your representatives to help make sure our leaders are telling us the truth, and leading the country down a path we're confident is the right one.

I too have recently heard that Laura Bush is a “closet smoker”. I have always wondered — because she has “smoker wrinkles” around her lips. Take another look at pics of her. I can always tell. (So does Judge Judy).

OBAMA CHANGE: All federal buildings will now allow smoking at your desk, in the hallways and in the bathrooms.
The White House will have a smoking room.
Smoking will be the new pasttime, and forget banning cigarette advertising for young people., why they can get an abortion so “they won’t be punished with a baby”; and they can smoke in the lobby of planned parenthood.
Why would she? If you’re a smoker, it’s now worse than being a child molester. Thanks to 20 years of non-stop media brainwashing. I do remember for a fact that one of the first things the Bush administration did when taking office was to allow smoking again in certain indoor areas in the WH.
Exactly......having gay sex is more accepted than smoking...it’s sick!

Content aside, young Jake exposes in himself what is wrong with today’s media and, appearantly, SOME parts of the education system.
I was taught in 7th grade that you don’t begin sentences with the word ‘’And’’ and you don’t ever use sentence fragments in written communication.
Journalistically, Jake, you are a narcissistic moron. Your job is NOT to be the self-coronated representative of the people and, as a reporter (not blogger), I don’t give a damn about what you like, don’t like, your feelings, and - most especially - where YOU think the country should be going.
Your job is to report newsworthy stories in an objective and unbiased manner. Heck, Jake, you don’t even have to be ‘’Fair and Balanced’’. You can be UNfair all you like, as long as you are accurate and truthful and you site sources OTHER THAN YOURSELF.
