You’re giving Obama the benefit of the doubt, rather than Ann. I think I’d have to read his book before I made that decision...especially since his book reflects the thoughts of a man who potentially could have a significant impact on my future, and that of my country.
No, I believe that is not the one purpose of Ann’s comments. The main purpose is that Ann’s tactic draws sharp and immediate attention to the subject. I don’t begrudge her any side benefits from throwing the leftist spin off track. The only reason for them to focus on Ann rather than the real subject of debate is obvious - she’s forcing a topic they don’t want to discuss. She gets that job done very well.
