The Obama Meltdown Continues As His Lies Grow Longer
The Bulletin ^ | 04/01/2008 | Herb Denenberg

Posted on 04/02/2008 10:22:06 AM PDT by smartin

I owe an apology to Sen. Barack Obama. In 14 previous columns and many answers in my weekly question-and-answer columns, I said he was a world-class liar, phony, hypocrite, artful dodger, and is unpatriotic to boot. But as more comes out on the senator, who has long had a free pass from the mainstream media, it turns out he's a bigger liar than I thought, even as his lies become less and less convincing.

Example: Mr. Obama claims the words of his friend, mentor, associate, advisor, inspiration, spiritual adviser and pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, are being taken out of context and that the man has been misjudged on the basis of snippets put on a loop that keeps running. He seems to think that the poisonous bigotry, racism and anti-Americanism that has been flowing onto television screens if put into context would somehow be cleaned up.

Well, it turns out that if you put these "snippets" into context, it only gets worse for the reverend and the senator. You could look at such statements that suggest this greatest nation in the history of the world is merely the "US of KKK A" and that we invented AIDS in order to use it for the genocidal targeting of blacks. You can look at the reverend urging his congregation not to say "God Bless America" but instead "God Damn America." And then you can put that into context, which cannot be cleaned up by seven oceans full of context.

Unfortunately for the senator and the reverend, when you look at context, you find that bigotry, racism and anti-Americanism is the central fabric of Rev. Wright's sermons, his writing, his philosophy and his mentor, James Cone, father of black liberation theology, on which Rev. Wright bases his thinking and the thinking and activities of his church.

Michael Medved, the radio talk show host, looked at the snippets in context and concluded they are not the exception but more the rule, and that anti-Americanism is a theme of Rev. Wright's thinking, and anything pro-American has been banished there from. Sean Hannity, also a radio talk show host, reached the same conclusion when looking at "context." I've reached the same conclusion, as I read "context." You can ask yourself, with or without context, how do you justify that favorite refrain of Rev. Wright, "God damn America" or some of his insane ideas about inventing AIDs to kill blacks?

Of course, Mr. Obama should be aware of this "context" better than anyone, having been a member of Rev. Wright's church for 20 years, as well as being his close associate. This all brings us back to the accelerating tendency of the senator to lie about what he knew and when he knew it.

To set the stage for the lies - and still bigger lies - of Mr. Obama, you have to have context. Remember, Mr. Obama's initial claim was that he was unaware of the kind of bigotry and racism in the now-famous snippets. To believe that, you have to believe that for 20 years the senator (and his wife, for that matter) was in a Rip Van Winkle state during his association with Rev. Wright. Rip Van Winkle, in Washington Irving's famous work of fiction, slept for 20 years. Maybe that's where Mr. Obama got the idea to claim a mysterious 20-year sleep. As racism, bigotry, and anti-Americanism are central themes of Rev. Wright's, you'd have to believe all of the following to believe that the senator didn't know about what was going on in his church for 20 years:

* You'd have to believe that the senator was sleeping during all of the sermons he attended for 20 years.

* You'd have to believe that his wife, Michelle, was also was sleeping for 20 years, as she would have surely told him if she heard such bias and insanity (about AIDs, for example).

* You'd have to believe that neither the senator nor his wife read any of the church publications, where you could find Rev. Wright's bigotry, racism and activities, such as visiting Libya to meet with Moammar Gadhafi or awarding that infamous bigot, Louis Farrakhan, a lifetime achievement award.

* You'd have to believe that the senator and his wife weren't reading general-circulation newspapers or watching television news, where they would have found Rev. Wright's pronouncements and activities.

* You'd have to believe that neither the senator nor his wife talked to other members of the congregation or other members of the larger community who were aware of Rev. Wright's bigotry and racism.

* You'd have to believe that the senator never talked to his pastor, as he would have surely picked up his central focus if he did. A professional politician and a highly political pastor talk for 20 years, but only of Christ and family. That would take a miracle sent from God.

* Finally, you'd have to believe that the senator never heard or read the sermon, which the senator says inspired his book The Audacity of Hope. Had he even read that one sermon, he would have had a good taste of Rev. Wright's bigotry, racism and hatred of whites.

Despite all that, the senator first tried to claim he "heard no evil." He wasn't in the pew when the bigotry, racism, and anti-Americanism poured forth. Having told that whopper, and sensing he was turning into a Pinocchio with an ever-longer nose, he seemed to change his story in the Philadelphia speech. There he tried to come up with a more believable lie. He admitted he knew Wright to be "an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy." He said he disagreed with many of his political views "just as many of you" have disagreed with your pastors, priests and rabbis.

This seemed to suggest that, although he heard some of Rev. Wright's poisonous pronouncements, he still could not disown his pastor, who was like an "uncle" to him, and who he could no more disown than he could disown the black community. This was what I call lie No. 2.

Then, when he subsequently appeared on Barbara Walters' television show "The View," he went back to his original "hear no evil" version of the lie, i.e., lie No. 1. He didn't hear this stuff, and if he did he would have been uncomfortable, and might have left the church.

He also stuck to his guns on the out-of-context snippets, asking how you would like it if the five stupidest things you've said in a lifetime were collected on a loop that was then run continuously. That doesn't fly either. The senator's logic is as bad as his lies. You could collect the five stupidest things a hundred or two hundred million Americans have ever said, and I doubt if you'd find "God damn America" or the other themes of Rev. Wright. Even those who might think such things would not likely be saying them in public to thousands of churchgoers.

As you consider the senator's toleration of Rev. Wright's anti-Americanisms, you have to wonder whether this is part of a much larger pattern. Does the leadership of the Democratic Party and its extreme left wing accept anti-Americanism and perhaps even practice it? Remember the slanders of the U.S. military by Sen. John Kerry, Rep. John Murtha, Sen. Dick Durbin and even by Mr. Obama.

Then you can connect the dots to Mr. Obama's wife, Michelle, who recently said she was not proud to be an American... until her husband started winning primaries. That was not an isolated example. More recently, another one of her anti-Americanisms has come to the fore. In a speech at the University of South Carolina, she told students, "You're not talking to each other, taking advantage that you're in this diverse community. Because sometimes it's easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That's America."

So she's on record as not being proud of America, as saying we're a "mean" people, and now she suggests we're known for ignorance - "that's America." Richard Lowry, editor of the National Review, said that Michelle Obama is a "very smart woman, wife and attorney" and ought to know better. "A statement like that suggests a distorted view of America and what it's about," Mr. Lowry said.

Anti-Americanism, which seems to be common among the Obamas, their pastor and the left wing of the Democratic Party may explain why the Rev. Wright rampage of bigotry, racism and anti-Americanism did not have much of an impact on the upcoming Democratic primary voting. Could it be that the activists and left-wing liberals that dominate the primary voting have the same anti-American perspective, and therefore do not object to a healthy serving of anti-Americanisms from Rev. Wright and the Obamas? It did affect polls among all Americans, just not Democratic Party voters in primaries.

There's another disturbing trend in this whole scene. The mainstream media, as we've often pointed out, is deifying and glorifying Mr. Obama, giving him a free pass and letting him approach nomination and possible election without the vetting that is essential to protect against catastrophic election blunders. As I've often pointed out, this is one of the worst journalistic malfeasance and disgraces in American history, and might mean we get a president we know little about. See my many columns on this and related subjects on The Bulletin's Web site, www.thebulletin.us.

Mr. Obama gets the free pass from the mainstream media, which is like him - left wing and liberal. But there could be other reasons. Some think critics fear to criticize a person of color, as they will be branded racists. I've also heard the view expressed that only those in power can be bigots (i.e., whites), and not those out of power (i.e., blacks). Of course, those are both ridiculous propositions, as we should be color blind in praise or criticism of any candidate. Nonetheless, there have been some attempts to silence valid criticism for whatever reason.

Example: Moveon.org, one of the leaders of the loony, left-wing, liberal, Democrats is leading a campaign to stop criticism of Mr. Obama for his association with the bigot, racist and anti-American preacher, Rev. Wright. In an e-mail to members, it is launching a petition drive to stop the airing of this criticism, which it says originates with the Fox News Network. Moveon.org writes, "Reporters like NBC's Tim Russert focused on the 'Reverend Wright controversy' only after Fox and other right-wing media did. It happens over and over. Fox airs a right-wing smear and the mass media repeat it...We are launching a petition demanding the big networks stop parroting Fox and distracting Americans from real issues."

The petition reads, "Fox is a Republican mouthpiece, not a legitimate news organization. Real news organizations must reject Fox's smears of Barack Obama, not parrot them and distract Americans from the pressing issues of the day."

Moveon.org has a sliver of truth, but a landfill of fallacy and falsehood in its pronouncements. It is true that Fox and other media outlets may have seemed to first report on the Rev. Wright controversy, but only because the mainstream media ignore even valid criticism of Mr. Obama. Only when the Rev. Wright controversy became big news in the alternative media was the mainstream media finally forced to cover it out of embarrassment for not having what the public learned was a major story.

Mr. Obama himself doesn't like criticism and has never been put to the test of tough questioning by journalist. When he does get even a semi-soft ball, he back peddles and stonewalls, by saying that's the "old politics." In other words, the new politics must be free of any questions or criticism of Mr. Obama. Recently, after answering a few questions, he walked out of a press conference when reporters finally started asking a few tough questions. The loony left, like Mr. Obama, thinks that any criticism of the senator is off-limits, and any news organization that starts to investigate his record is "not a legitimate news organization" and that any criticism of Mr. Obama is not news but a "smear."

Example: People for the American Way, another leader of the loony, left-wing, Democratic liberal extremists, is trying to turn the criticism of Mr. Obama and his association with bigot and racist Rev. Wright into something that it is not. People for the American Way has charged that telling the truth about Mr. Obama and Rev. Wright is a political attack on "the historic progressive prophetic role of the Black Church ... Religious Right leaders, who have worked hard to cultivate support from conservative Black clergy, have turned the current episode into an assault on the social justice gospel that has traditionally been at he heart of the Black Church ... and much of Christianity."

I've got news for People for the American Way - bigotry, racism and anti-Americanism is not and should not be at the "heart of the Black Church...and much of Christianity." In fact, it has no place in America, Christianity or religion, an indisputable fact that Rev. Wright and Mr. Obama don't seem to understand and act on.

The loony, liberal, left wing extremists that control the mainstream media and the Democratic Party are not satisfied with the preponderant mainstream media that now treat Mr. Obama as the Second Coming. They also want to stifle all criticism from Fox and all the alternative media. They may be "Democrats" in name and party affiliation, but their practices are anti-American, anti-Democratic and totalitarian.

One other important development should be mentioned. Some leaders of the Democratic Party are trying to strong arm Hillary Clinton to quit the race. That would be a double disaster. It would assure Mr. Obama's nomination. In addition, it would end the possibility that the media might finally start investigating and vetting this virtually unknown candidate who is on the verge of nomination. Rev. Wright and Mr. Obama's close association with a terrorist are only the tip of the iceberg. We better see the full iceberg before his nomination, not after it.

How about his being clueless...

RUSH: Oh, McCain is hitting very hard there at The Messiah, basically claiming he doesn't know what he's talking about. He has no experience. He doesn't! Obama doesn't the slightest idea what he's talking about. He doesn't have slightest idea. Without his TelePrompTer, he doesn't know what he's saying. He doesn't know what he's saying about the economy. "Well, yeah, raise the capital gains. We ought to raise it 25%! Warren Buffett said we could even raise it to 30%." In this economic climate, sir? You want to raise capital gains? "Well, of course we might exempt people who would really be harmed." He doesn't have the slightest clue, and his eyes glaze over on all of this stuff. He really has no clue when he's talking outside that TelePrompTer. He's being very guarded at all times to make sure that he doesn't unleash what he really believes. This is one of the things that Mrs. Clinton is waiting on for Obama, and it's very possible. It's only April 1st. There's a lot of stuff he could step in out there. (cont.)

I think that this is a hit piece by another Philly newsrag in the pocket of the Clintons, Fast Eddie Rendell, and Mayor Nutter.

Interesting how the Philadelphia rags are in lockstep with pro clinton everything.

I guess the question is: are whites going to put up with blatant black racism. To accept it and not fight it or denounce it would be tantamount to surrendering to the notion that whites are inherently racist or even inferior.

I say inferior because no other ethnic group puts up this kind of assault and toleration of it either means guilt or total incomprehension.

I think in the end the MSM is doing the Dims no favors by flying cover for Obama, because it means that once again the Dims will nominate a candidate who has not been thoroughly vetted. Obama is no moderate unifier of Republicans and Democrats as he claims, just as Kerry was not going to be able to sell his status as a Vietnam war hero, not when he came home and slandered his fellow vets. So, the Dims will go into the fall with a candidate whose main message is fundamentally flawed.

Barack Hussein Obama is not a muslim. Why, that isn't even a muslim name. It's no more muslim than Harry or Joe. I don't know where you people get your craziness.

And Barack Hussein Obama has never set foot in that church. He always stood outside to listen to the sermons and always covered his ears when Rev Wright would talk bad about whitey. Um, I mean, uh, Caucasion-Americans.

Lies, all lies!

Here, apparently, is the transcript of that one sermon: http://www.preachingtoday.com/sermons/sermons/audacityofhope.html

It actually seems pretty tame compared to the more incendiary stuff. But you can still read the "whitey's keeping us down" undercurrent in it, with his mentions of skin color and apartheid.

Regardless, Wright is still a racist, un-Christian-like race hustler, and Obama is still a bald-faced liar.

One lie in particular. Osama obama was thanked the Kennedys for some airlift in 1960 that saved his islamic bigamist daddy’s life. It turned out that the airlift occurred in 1959. Well, if one thinks about it, if the airlift occurred either in 59 or 60, then it was under a Republican president say Eisenhower.
