“Al Qaeda Officially Hates The Counterterrorism Blog”
By Andrew Cochran
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “When I started this website in January 2005, I never envisioned that that Al Qaeda would target us for a hit piece over the Internet. Well, voila, the blessed day has arrived. The wonderful folks at the SITE Intelligence Group found the item below on Al-Ekhlaas, one of Al-Qaida’s central messaging forums on the Internet, which has begun a new series in English titled, “Watching and Monitoring the Jihad Media Watchers.” They passed along the item below to Evan Kohlmann, who sent it to me, and I want to share it with our readers and contributors. They also passed out a “Badge of Honor” to SITE, Evan Kohlmann, IntelCenter, the NEFA Foundation, and Internet Haganah (my congrats to them).”

“”We made eye contact, and he shot me again”: Harrowing testimony on third day of Haq trial”
By Natalie Singer
Seattle Times staff reporter

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “As Layla Bush lay bleeding from a gunshot wound on the floor of her boss’s office, her thoughts were a jumble.
Against a backdrop of gunfire and screaming coming from other parts of the building, Bush thought about how, as the receptionist, it was her duty to call 911 and report the rampage at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.
But the pain in her side anchored her to the floor.
“I realized that I couldn’t move, so there was nothing I could do even if he was reloading,” she said.
Suddenly, the gunman, Naveed Haq, returned.
“We made eye contact, and he shot me again. I believe he was trying to kill me,” she testified this morning on the third day of Haq’s trial in King County Superior Court.”

“Officer: Haq calm when stopped 20 minutes before rampage”
By TRACY JOHNSON
P-I REPORTER
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Prosecutors contend that he’d planned the attack and knew exactly what he was doing: Trying to make a political statement with his rant against Jews, U.S. foreign policy and the troops in Iraq.
On July 28, 2006, Cook said, he noticed Haq’s white Mazda pickup headed north on Third Avenue at 3:37 p.m. — a rush-hour time when the busy downtown street is mainly limited to bus traffic. He flipped on his lights and chirped his siren. Haq pulled over.
Cook said it was a brief exchange. He asked Haq for his license and proof of insurance, took the license back to his motorcycle and returned with a ticket. He then pointed out the signs restricting traffic and told him to get off Third Avenue.
“He acknowledged, said ‘OK,’ something to that effect,” Cook said. “Whatever it was, I’m (sure) he understood.”
The officer said Haq “made eye contact” and “seemed normal.” Cook didn’t see any weapons.”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “After Cook gave him a ticket and sent him on his way, Haq parked his truck in a garage about six blocks away.
Prosecutors say it was about 3:54 p.m. when he went on a deadly rampage inside the federation’s Third Avenue offices.”
