Teen Admits She Created Profile and Wrote Messages; Testifies Against Neighborhood Mom
In an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America," Ashley Grills, 19, admitted she was part of a scheme to create a fake persona on MySpace and start an online romance with a 13-year-old neighbor, Megan Meier.
Ashley Grills discusses her role in a MySpace scheme linked to a girl's suicide. Grills insisted, though, that she was not the only adult involved in the cruel hoax, which eventually led the emotionally vulnerable Meier to commit suicide in October 2006, after her spurious online boyfriend and others began making nasty comments about her.

Grills has testified to a grand jury that Lori Drew, the 47-year-old mother of one of Meier's friends, was actively involved in creating the account and wrote some of the messages to Meier a charge that Drew and her attorney deny.
"We were just combining ideas about how we can figure out what Megan was saying about Lori's daughter," Grills told ABC News' Deborah Roberts. "It was all three of us me and Lori and her daughter."

I also do not understand this cyber bullying thing, stay away from the sites that are giving you problems, change your email and or screen name....
In this case, it is clearly more the case of adults cyberstalking a minor girl. According to earlier reports, they would watch the house to see when her parents would leave, then send romantic messages masquerading as a 13-year-old boy. So instead of just sending malicious messages outright (which Megan probably would have ignored) Lori Drew and co deliberately drew her into a “romantic” relationship with a non-existent boy, only to have “him” attack her when her parents were gone - with Drew’s knowledge that Megan had been suicidal in the past.
It makes it doubly disturbing to know that Lori Drew continues to insert herself into Megan’s family AFTER Megan’s death.
This evil b**** went to great lengths to psychologically torment and emotionally rape a 13-year-old girl. If Lori Drew had been a man instead of a woman, an arrest would have been expected.
Excuse me, but I don't let my kids on MySpace or Facebook or any of those sites. Nothing good comes from those pages. There's not a day that there isn't a headline with something else with those sites. That said, as a parent I look on classmate's pages just to stay apprised of what's going on and what needs to be nipped in the bud. The amount of garbage is appalling.
You’re absolutely right, and more parents need to be aware that just because it LOOKS like your child is chatting with another child online doesn’t mean that the other person is a child.
Even if you think you know the other child as one of your child’s friends - whom you may have already met - that doesn’t mean that the poster IS “the other child”. All too frequently, posters will assume the identity of a REAL child, and masquerade as that child - i.e. even though you’ve met that child, it could be a malicious adult hiding behind that child’s name.
Megan’s mother had read the messages to begin with, and had assumed that the other person was a nice homeschooled 13-year-old boy instead of a twisted neighbor woman intent on humiliating her daughter. That mistake proved to be fatal.
What makes this even worse, than the original appalling behavior of this 47 yr. old mother, is that she persists in the same venomous mindset by attempting to lay all the blame on this 19 yr. old girl.

Both the couple and this young piece of garbage should be exterminated. Filthy vermin.
I can almost...almost understand why an immature child might pull a hoax like this...almost mind you. No matter what age, it is still big time stupid. But when the involvement, encouragement, and over the top participation of an adult, I am appalled that this piece of trash still draws breath. I hope her life is a living piece of hell for what she did.
That what I was thinking too. Lori Drew, her daughter, and Ashley Grills are really screwed up in their heads.
There is a difference between being emotionally screwed-up and being evil. Lori Drew is profoundly evil. There should be some way to make her suffer for what she did. As it seems the justice system will not do our work for us and make her pay, it's a comfort to know that she will suffer forever in hell. Times like this, I'm glad there's a hell.
