The blond haired, blue eyed descendants of Alexander the Great have inhabited the Khyber region for centuries. They will be hard to spot. (Yes, Virginia, we do profile, thank God).

So long as the influx of recruits is equalled by the influx of Hellfire missiles, I think all is well.

AQ has always been a highly disciplined intelligence organization. That’s why, I’m sure, that OBJ rejected that “American Taliban” guy from Marin County. He screened him, personally, and decided that he wasn’t tough enough or secure enough to let in past that of a low level fighter.
Opening to “western looking” types will allow them to be more open to infiltration.
It also will make airport screening more fun, I’m sure.

Why be so secretive about it? All you have to do is to apply for an immigration visa and join your terrorist buddies already in the country.

While the border fence crowd have theirs, and the entire nations attention focused on Mexico, AQ will slip in from Canada.

Muriel Degauque (July 19, 1967—November 9, 2005) was a Belgian woman from Charleroi and a convert to Islam.[1] La Derniere Heure, a Belgian newspaper, claimed on December 1, 2005 that she was a suicide bomber in Iraq. According to Belgian authorities, a Belgian woman committed a suicide car bomb attack on November 9, 2005 against a U.S. military convoy south of Baghdad. The Belgian was the only person killed, but one American soldier was injured.Belgian authorities subsequently questioned her family and determined Degauque as the bomber. A bakery worker, she married a Muslim man and quickly became radical in her religious views. The couple moved into Iraq from the Syrian border, presumably to join the Iraqi insurgency. Degauque's husband failed to detonate his explosive belt and was killed in a separate incident by US troops.

While some of the threads are darn funny, if the bad guys start recruiting in Bosnia, Kosovo and Albania, it is going to seriously complicate the security situation. Ah, Bill Clinton's legacy...the gift that keeps on giving..
I would not discount this idea at all, Al-Queda and the Taliban were among those who provided manpower for the Mujahdeen battalions of the ABiH during the war in Bosnia. Those battalions often recruited locally as well as internationally to replace losses. So, the network of contacts is already there.
